Optimus Prime and Megatron have their final showdown as Unicron and spacetime collapse around them.
Synopsis
[edit]Power. Heart. Soul. All of those are manifest within the divine vessel known as the Matrix. This crystallized wisdom has been passed down throughout the generations by leaders of the righteous Transformers, be they Autobots, Cybertrons, or Maximals. Its energies have brought forth miracles and prosperity across different spacetimes. Now, in this spacetime, 01-OG, the Matrix is inside the God of Destruction known as Unicron, and one fights another for the fate of this world.
In less consequential battles within the god's physical body, Hellwarp fights against the team of Roadbuster and Grimlock, whose well-coordinated attacks force Hellwarp to resort to overusing his teleportation.
After being rescued from the 10-BS Spacetime, Roadbuster, recovering from his injuries in Metropolis, profusely apologizes to Grimlock for his quick judgment of him as a Decepticon beast. After seeing his vigilant defense of SARA, Roadbuster corrected his misbelief, realizing the dinosaur was friend he could trust. Grimlock, ever cheerful, takes it in stride and reaffirms their friendship. Grateful, Roadbuster moves on to another topic: how to defeat Hellwarp.
Realizing beforehand that Grimlock seemingly had a natural instinct on where Hellwarp would appear after teleporting a split second before the portal appeared, Roadbuster uses him to sniff out the vicious teleporter and shoot him before he could pull his usual tactic of blasting his enemies through warp gates. Shocked, Hellwarp decides to switch to close up tactics and puts the pressure on Roadbuster, using short-range teleportation to cut the Wrecker to pieces. Just as Hellwarp is about to gnaw on his opponent, he find himself stopped short of doing so! Grimlock has nabbed him by his tail. Seizing the moment, Roadbuster fires all of his weaponry into Hellwarp's mouth, and the shark spews fire and ash as Roadbuster uses his vehicle mode to ram him, sending him flying into one of the furnace pits that act as Unicron's digestive system. Satisfied that he has avenged Ironfist, Roadbuster and his new battle-forged friend move on.
In Unicron's core, Megatron looks upon the corpse of Optimus Prime, somewhat disappointed their eternal rivalry ended so quick. SARA, within Megatron's chest, despairs at the loss of her friend, but Megatron entreats her to move on. Suddenly, the chamber they are in is illuminated by light from elsewhere—the young Autobot warrior vying for this world's future has won against his opponent and opens the Matrix, lighting the universe's darkest hour. The energies of the Matrix immediately cause Unicron pain; he is being destroyed from the inside out. The light in the core dims, but Optimus's body still glows, resonating with the the Matrix's light—he has his own Matrix, that of Cloud Spacetime. The two Matrices restore life to the wayward Autobot leader.
Elsewhere within, Shockwave, uninterested in battle with Hot Rodimus, takes note of the self-destruction of their surroundings, sends out a message, and takes his leave. Reasonably finding the Decepticon a low priority now, Rodimus rushes to look for the other Autobots. While Starscream battles Brawn, he receives Shockwave's communique for the Decepticons to regroup immediately if they want to survive. Starscream freely accepts this impetus to leave, and Brawn soon meets up with Roadbuster, Grimlock, and Rodimus. They realize that the fated destruction of Unicron by this spacetime's denizens has come to pass and they must also flee before the final bang consumes them all. In the nick of time, a dimension gate opens in front of them. Through telepathic contact, they learn this is from their beloved commander, and they jump through, despite some inevitable misgivings about leaving him and SARA behind.
Flabbergasted, Megatron looks upon the revived Optimus Prime, now divinely glowing the same green as SARA's; he has accessed "Dimension Mode", fully accessing her power. The Decepticon is surprised he was able to open a dimension gate from such a distance, but dismisses it as a mere "trick". Closing up SARA's chamber in his chest, Megatron accesses the same energy, achieving the same Dimension Mode that also leaves him glowing a green color. This, indeed, is the Emperor of Spacetime. Both Transformers now ascendant as gods, the two clash with their reality-shattering fists.
Groggy, Hellwarp wakes up, believing he's back in hell. Fortunately for him, he's actually been rescued by Thundercracker, who burned his arm pulling him out of the furnace. Baffled why the former friend he regarded as lesser would save him, Hellwarp is told to shut up by the blue Seeker. He wouldn't feel very good if he left his friend to die, that's all. Realization falls upon Hellwarp and the two enter a silent understanding, amusing Deadlock. They find Shockwave and Starscream. Shockwave explains that his Spatiotemporal Transfer System can use Starscream's SARA-tinged energy to open dimension gates; Starscream easily agrees to the plan and the two open a dimension gate. Deadlock questions, though, what about Megatron. Shockwave explains: Megatron is no longer suitable for his needs for an Emperor of Spacetime. The Decepticons will be reorganized under their watch. Starscream, amused by Shockwave's turn, enters the gate first, with Thundercracker and Hellwarp following. Deadlock also notes that there's still somebody unaccounted for, but Shockwave dismisses the concern. If he wants to die with his idol, let him. They walk through and the portal closes as the surrounding corridor explodes.
As the divine Optimus Prime and Megatron clash while their surroundings fall to increasingly intensifying explosions, their sheer power over spacetime results in a surround vortex that brings them outside of normal spacetime. From this vantage point, they are able to see the totality of the Spacetime World. They see various incarnations of themselves. Optimus Prime. Convoy. Megatron. Galvatron. Optimus Prime and Megatron battling on a blue planet. Optimus Prime and Megatron fighting as simply warriors in another Unicron. Optimus Prime and Megatron fighting in a human city over a cube. Megatron makes his point—why does Optimus want to preserve a Spacetime World of endless conflict? But Optimus is undeterred. Even if the totality of what they know is a cage of eternal strife, destroying it all is not the answer, and not one SARA herself wants. Then, a voice echoes in their heads. It is SARA, now finally speaking for herself. Now that SARA and Megatron are one, she is able to access his memories and conveys them to Optimus. Before she descended to humanoid form, SARA as a being of pure energy had her own mind, which Megatron sensed. However, he concluded that SARA didn't just need to be freed, but also that she needed to become goddess of all, ruler of the Spacetime World. His later exile into nothingness for four million years further broke his mind, leading him to believe that the always-expanding Spacetime World itself served as a prison for SARA and sought to destroy it to form the ideal realtity for SARA and himself.
Enlightened on Megatron's perspective, Optimus Prime asks a question: What does SARA think for herself now? Does she want to help Megatron with his plan? SARA admits she doesn't recall her time prior, but that the time she spent with Optimus, Hot Rodimus, and other friends was precious, irreplaceable. While the spacetimes she traveled through had their share of sadness and hatred, she still felt the warmth and happiness of the living worlds she experienced. She does not want to end the Spacetime World, but to protect the lives within with her power. Megatron, believing Optimus to be misleading SARA away from her true mission. He plunges his fist into Optimus's chest, trying to pry the Matrix from his body, but his attention is caught elsewhere: Optimus has put his own fist into Megatron's chest and pulls out SARA! With a final blast from the Autobot's ion blaster and his body collapsing, Megatron is left behind as Optimus and SARA disappear from the dimensional vortex.
The unconscious Megatron rematerializes in Unicron, still collapsing. His faithful servant, Soundwave picks him up and, guided by a mysterious voice in his mind, walks where he is beckoned. Finally, Unicron explodes utterly, leaving behind only his head. The 01-OG Spacetime has entered a new age in its foundational history.
At their base in Metropolis in Cloud Spacetime, the Autobots wait for for their Commander's return and are rewarded when a dimension gate opens with Optimus Prime and SARA within. Finally home, Optimus sees the future of his world in SARA's smile and he shares her sentiment.
