Transformers Alliance is an Japanese free-to-play augmented reality mobile game released in 2022. A closed beta test on the Android operating system ran in April 2021, followed by a second beta test in March 2022.
Gameplay
[edit]Players join the Autobot or Decepticon faction, and using location-based services, a player can occupy bases and expand the territory of their faction. By collecting in-game parts, a player can "meet" characters summoned via AR from identifiable objects such as cars, phones, and computers.

On starting a new game, players must choose between playing as the Autobots or Decepticons, and they receive three starter characters that correspond to their faction. They are also guaranteed to obtain their faction's leader, Optimus Prime or Megatron, through regular gameplay. After this, any character obtained will be part of the player's chosen faction, regardless of their traditional alignment–for example, an Autobot player may receive a blue-eyed, Autobranded Megatron.

Notes
[edit]- In its original Japanese release, characters are referred to by their traditional TakaraTomy names–Convoy, Bumble, Meister and so on–though on-screen English text makes use of Hasbro nomenclature.
- Goldbug is an upgraded Bumblebee, but also co-exists with Bumblebee. Soundblaster's bio also makes clear that he is the resurrected form of the dead Soundwave, as per his The Headmasters appearances–a bio which is copied and pasted for "Shockwave R", a resurrected and rebuilt Shockwave! This apparent new form for Shockwave is decked out in dark grey like his cousin "Galactic Man", with a sinister red glow in his chest window. Maybe the R stands for RadioShack?
