User talk:Derik/Sexytime - DRAFT
From MediaWiki
Jump to navigationJump to searchI can't decide if this is awful or brilliant. Which I suppose does put it squarely in the company of Derik articles I've seen in the past.--RosicrucianTalk 00:36, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- mmm. It's supposed to sidestep the issue of Transformers homosexuality by hard-lining canonicity on this subject and implicitly pushing Sunstreaker and Knock-Out into Authorial intent territory. (Until there's something canon on the subject, we say nothing.)
- I really, really don't want the wiki to have a "list of gay transformers" in the familial/relationships section. It would attract the wrong sort of tittering purient interest I don't think the wiki should encourage in relation to the brand. -Derik 01:03, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not. —Interrobang 01:07, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- You know, I think you have a very warped picture of me, and it kinda bothers me. Do you want me to do my "gay doesn't mean..." speech where I slam the radicals that pass for LBGT "leadership," Gay Pride parades and the minstrel show that's been embraced for gays on television? Because I can.
- For the record I think the Q&A panel 'glitch' gaffe was probably reaching for a sort of "and one day God sneezed" harmless deflection about the day someone is born (can't remember off the top of me how that joke goes...) but innocently stumbled into a mildly pejorative term as the guys giving the answers searched for an appropriate response. It doesn't bother me-- I feel sorry for the guy who made the answer because he probably feels bad about it. -Derik 01:16, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- It's more the fact that pulling shit out of your ass on specious evidence ("Trinity of Chaos", "The One", etc., etc.) and pushing stuff for your amusement ("Bob the friendly Insecticon") are your forte here. —Interrobang 02:08, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- I can't have views on the canon which others disagree with? I (mostly) believe articles you're citing were legitimate... but I admit, I do tend to rely on the 'wikiness' of this site when I work on articles like that. "This seems to make sense to me, but it is pretty slim... oh well, if the other guys think it's bullshit I'm sure they'll tell me and delete the article." I'm fairly sure no excessively 'Deriky' article has darkened the wiki's doorstep for more than 45 minutes.
- (Seriously, I expected you to just say that I have been an asshole to people in the past, which makes you less tolerant of my occasionally quixotic edits. I mean... that's a fairly legitimate basis for complaint.) -Derik 02:24, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- We're all assholes. I'm not sure why I would single you out for it. —Interrobang 02:29, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- Really? I'm pretty sure I've been extra assholish to you in the past... probably when disagreeing about disambiguation schemas.
- I feel kinda bad about that. I had a transformative spiritual experience a year ago and I am attempting to live my life by an Aquarian ideal of peaceful co-existence with my fellow man, not depriving another of their dignity in the heat of an argument. It is impossible to enter the Age of Aquarius by the sword. Can't we all just sit down on a couch and get piss-drunk while talking out our disagreements until we realize whatever it was we were talking about couldn't possibly have been that important and go join the rest of the people at the party? -Derik 02:46, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

This has nothing to do with any opinions I may hold regarding the article as a whole, but I want to state my approval of the three-way "race" conflation. --Andrusi 08:57, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
