An injured Chase uncovers many mysteries while Doc's magician sister visits Griffin Rock.
Synopsis
[edit]
Townsfolk, including the Greenes and Burnses, have gathered to watch Maura the Magnificent's magic act. As she makes a tiger appear and disappear, the Rescue Bots, short Chase arrive in time to see her assistant jumping into a basket. As Maura thrusts swords into the basket, Chief explains it's part of the magic act. Chase finally arrives having been filing a report and, unaware that it's a trick, he steps onto the stage to save the assistant only to be surprised when the basket turns out to be empty. Maura's assistant is revealed safe and sound in a nearby tree, but before Maura can go on to her next trick, a trap door gives way under Chase. Once the crowd is cleared away, Heatwave helps Chase up and Boulder checks out his injury. Maura reveals she has returned to Griffin Rock to pick up a trick her brother Doc Greene has created for her. Chase transforms to go on patrol, but his front wheel is badly bent.
Back at the firehouse, Blades prescribes either a few days of healing stasis, or stay off his feet for a week. Chase chooses the latter so he can continue to help the team, and Cody suggests he do the job Cody usually does — monitoring the island for trouble. They soon have Chase set up at the larger comms center, with Chief being forced to accompany Dani and Blades for emergencies. An emergency coincidentally happens, and the uninjured part of the team rushes to investigate. While they try to deal with a truck stuck under a bridge, Chase obeys the Chief's orders to keep an eye on things elsewhere, tuning in to the activities of the townsfolk.

Maura insists on staying at the motel, for one because she didn't want to house her white tiger Blizzard at the lab. She shows off a trick to Frankie and Cody, making the tiger teleport to a cage. After Doc hands over the new devices he's made, everyone leaves to have dinner. Meanwhile, Chase spots Mrs. Luskey running through town in an agitated state, and assuming the mayor's missing, calls an emergency. The rest of the team hauls up in town to find Mrs. Luskey being reunited with Poopsie, whom she explains had gone missing. Heatwave is unimpressed with Chase and Chief tells the apologetic Rescue Bot to be more careful what he reports as an emergency.
Chase next sees Maura's assistant breaking into her motel room and fireworks going off. He soon has the rest of the team on the scene putting out the fire, though Kade is startled to find Blizzard inside and the assistant is nowhere to be found. The Greenes and Cody return to the scene of destruction and Maura, though relieved to find Blizzard is OK, discovers that the trick Doc created for her is gone. Cody observes some nearby barrels which escaped the fire unscathed, which Maura explains were her grandmother Lorraine's, intended to be part of a trick involving going over Griffin Falls, but Lorraine never got the chance. Maura intends to perform the trick herself, though Doc isn't so sure it's a good idea. Chase reports three robberies have occurred, though in each case, the robber went unseen, so the team splits up to investigate, though Chase believe it is somehow related to Maura's assistant.

Unable to leave the firehouse, he ropes Frankie into tailing the assistant. Though she loses track of her quarry, Chase spots the assistant returning to the motel room. Frankie tails the suspect inside, accidentally dropping her comm before she enters, and discovers the motel room is empty. She's shut in with Blizzard, and an alarmed Chase calls in the rest of the team to rescue her. They find Frankie has happily made friends with the tame tiger and are unimpressed when they discover Chase persuaded Frankie to endanger herself. Doc however suspects he may be right about the assistant and reveals the trick he created was a pair of invisibility cloaks. They soon realize that the thief is targeting the bank, and set up a trap. Graham sets up a tripwire which exposes the thieves as they exit the bank — they quickly discover there are two assistants, and Dani unmasks them as Evan and Myles!

After Doc lets Maura know her assistant was behind the thefts, she reveals she's about to do her barrel trick, however Frankie spots the trick barrel in the back of Evan and Myles' van. Chief contacts Chase to see what's happening at the falls, and when Chase is filled in on what's happening, the injured Rescue Bot takes off to help. Blades manages to intercept the barrel as it plummets over the falls, however when it's opened, it proves to be empty. After Maura sheds her balloon vendor disguise, having used sleight of hand to avoid being in the barrel, she slips and falls, but Chase catches her before she takes a real trip over the falls. Reunited with her brother, she explains that she modified the barrel trick. Heatwave announces it looks like Chase is ready to go back to work, but Chase first opts to check in on the townsfolk to see how they're doing.
