It's every bot out for themself as Autobots race against Decepticons to press the button that will allow them to win!

Synopsis

[edit]

A green light shines in the desert, indicating the beginning of a challenge. Optimus Prime, Elita-1, and Bumblebee tiredly stumble upon this challenge and enter it, hoping it will be easy. Much to their displeasure, they soon find out that the game appears to be glitched, and all three fall through the sand and into the game's arena. The arena is a dark space filled with floating platforms that surround a larger platform with a button at its center. The fall seems to trigger another flashback from Optimus, one in which the purple power-up from earlier features prominently. After Grimlock and Mirage also fall in, Grimlock sarcastically remarks that Prime isn't looking all that good, and Mirage continues, stating that this whole program feels off. Starscream, Sky-Byte, and Megatron land next, with Elita none too happy about the appearance of Sky-Byte. Megatron takes a brief moment to comment about the convenience of all the bots he wants offline being in one room, and verbally spars with Starscream before the fight begins.

With all the contestants assembled, the game can finally start, and the Narrator tells everyone that they must press the button in the center of the battlefield to win. Bumblebee goes first, recklessly stepping onto a red platform, which falls to the abyss beneath his feet, forcing him to quickly move to a blue platform. Megatron begins shortly after Bee, jumping through the floating patches of ground like it's second nature, only coming to a stop when the platform in front of him turns red. Starscream takes this opportunity to try and eliminate Megatron, but is quickly kicked into Optimus, triggering Prime's second round of flashbacks for the day. Megatron proceeds to press the button that is now within his reach, but due to being in its blue "treat" phase, it gives all his foes a power boost instead of eliminating them like he had hoped. Emboldened by his increased strength, Mirage tries to take on Megatron, only to be quickly thrown into the abyss and removed from the competition.

Starscream attempts to menace Optimus, but is convinced by Prime to assist in fighting Megatron instead. Optimus leads the charge, making Megatron think that he's clashing with Optimus, only for Starscream to launch a surprise attack. After a brief exchange of blows between all three of them, the Decepticon leader comes out on top, taking the time to gloat at Optimus. Starscream, however, manages to surprise Megatron once more by grabbing him, triumphantly announcing to Megs that his nemesis has won. Megatron knocks Starscream off of him with ease, explaining that Starscream is not his nemesis; Optimus Prime is. The truth enrages Starscream, causing him to lunge at Megatron, hurling them both into the pit below.

Elita-1 reaches the center platform soon after, with Sky-Byte not far behind her. Ignoring Optimus's protests, Elita presses the button while it's in its red "trick" phase, causing all the red platforms to start falling, including the ones Bumblebee and Grimlock are standing on. Distraught, Optimus runs after his fellow Autobots while Elita shoots at Sky-Byte's grappling hook, preventing him from latching on to a platform and causing him to be eliminated. Elita then goes to follow Optimus, but he tells her to guard the center platform. With Elita agreeing to keep watch and Bumblebee assuring him of his well-being, Optimus moves to help Grimlock, who is unable to get off the edge of the platform he's on. Unfortunately for both of them, Grimlock's platform gives way soon after Optimus arrives. Optimus quickly grabs another platform, but can barely hang on to it. Grimlock tells Optimus to let him go and Optimus does, joining the others in the center as they watch Megatron and Starscream fight.

Bumblebee presses the button while it's red to try to get the two Decepticons eliminated. As the room is filled with vision-hindering smoke, Optimus has a third flashback, causing him to press the button while it's blue. The button press sets off the challenge's win condition, and with Starscream being defeated previously, Optimus, Bumblebee, Elita, and Megatron are declared winners. Megatron tells Optimus that his hesitation is a weakness before they are separated.

Back in the jungle, Megatron spots a large flying creature. Meanwhile, Optimus's memories continue to surge forth, and Elita asks him if he's alright.

[edit]

"You have been bested, Megatron. Emperor Starscream, your greatest nemesis, has won!"
[Megatron laughs]
"Prime is my nemesis, Starscream."

"You are a mere nuisance."

Megatron clears up Starscream's misconception.

"Win requires sacrifice. Let me go."

Grimlock proves he is not a hypocrite.

"Hesitation is weakness Prime, and weakness cannot be afforded."

Megatron helpfully lays down his philosophy.
