Forestonite

Not to be confused with gold, electrum, solitarium, isidrite, Schaeffer Energy, nucleon, chronogon, impervious alloy...

Forestonite (フォレストナイト foresutonaito) is a super energy source found on Earth. Its nature remains largely mysterious, though it can be measured in kilograms. In a large enough dose, Forestonite can be dangerous to mechanical life.

In August of the year 199X, the Autobots and the Decepticons detected the presence of forestonite on the planet Earth. Decepticon leader Megatron and his Cyberjet warriors Hooligan, Skyjack, and Space Case attacked Japan in search of it, but were repulsed by the Autobots Optimus Prime and Electro. With the Decepticons defeated, Optimus Prime swore to defend the Earth and its forestonite with the aid of the young boy Junpei. The New Battle!!

TransTech

The TransTech CEO of C-Kar Technologies, Ego, had sixteen kilos of forestonite in his personal collection. A Flash Forward, Part 2 Jhiaxus utilized the forestonite, blueprints stolen from Quantum Laboratories on Earth, personality components procured by the Battlechargers from Cybertron, and the forced help of Nebulan scientist Hi-Q to create a "second generation" of Cybertronians. Notes

• The G-2 manga special that introduced forestonite says basically says nothing specific about it, not even whether it's a solid, liquid or gas—just that it's on Earth and the Decepticons want it. Its unique qualities weren't introduced until BotCon 2010's "Generation 2: Redux" storyline, which established forestonite to be responsible for the new colour schemes sported by the Generation 2 characters, as well as granting them new superpowers. These ideas would then be adapted back over into Japanese media.
