| The name or term "Sentinel" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Sentinel (disambiguation). |
- Sentinel Major is an Autobot from the Wings Universe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Sentinel Major comes from a very distinguished heritage. The "Sentinel Line" from which Sentinel takes his name comprises a storied history of war heroes, all who have fought in key battles in Cybertron's history, and all who have worn the distinguished blue and orange that Sentinel wears. Sentinel lives every moment confident in the knowledge that, somewhere out there, his legendary ancestors are looking down on him and wishing they were him instead.
To say Sentinel Major is arrogant is an understatement. Even though he is a more than capable warrior who wields his hard-light lance and shield with the experience of a life time of training, he is too much of a narcissist to be much help on the battlefield. His only real interest is himself and his story, the story of a bot of great potential who rose through the ranks the greatest soldier who probably ever lived, who would take the mighty reins of the Cybertron Elite Guard as their Supreme Commander.
He is not well liked.

Though he first enrolled in an officer's academy, he quickly became frustrated there and moved to basic training. Sentinel was pretty sure he did, because straight out of basic training he was culled into Big Bang's infantry unit with the Autobot Guard, the "Advanced Observation Unit". After the battle on Beta-Nine signaled the beginning of the war against the insurgent Decepticons, the AOU was reconfigured into the new Elite Guard. Sentinel Major and Magnum were both present when Dion was made operational once more after being attacked by Megatron. Upon his awakening, they enlisted him into the Elite Guard. Battle Lines, Part 1
When Magnum left his office to greet Metalhawk's squad upon their arrival at Elite Guard HQ, Sentinel Major tagged along, mainly to escape the "bureaucratic fumes" and helped to make sure Magnum's orders were perfectly clear. The Coming Storm: Part 2 They introduced Metalhawk's team to a new Elite Guard team, whom Sentinel had dubbed the Combaticons. Flames of Yesterday
Notified of some Decepticon activity, Sentinel Major briefed Powerflash's Stealth Team on their up-coming mission to investigate an asteroid which Gutcruncher had taken an interest in. He later reported to Magnum, only to learn the Elite Guard forces were going to be spread even thinner. After that meeting, he (literally) ran into Ricochet and discovered that Powerflash had faked his signature on a requisition order for a spacecraft. He couldn't argue with the results, as the Stealth Team returned with Gutcruncher's crew captive and the asteroid destroyed. A Team Effort
A major Decepticon attack was launched on Elite Guard HQ, and Sentinel Major organized the defenses, eventually managing to overcome the attackers. Among the Decepticons remaining were the thought-missing Combaticons, who had switched sides. Sentinel Major demanded they surrender under Section 46 of the Elite Guard Protocol, but instead they revealed a new capability, merging into the giant Bruticus, who crushed Sentinel Major in his right hand. The Coming Storm: Part 5
Notes
[edit]- His appearance—and placement as Magnum's right-hand bot—is pretty obviously an homage to Animated Sentinel Prime. His name is a play on the one that version used before his promotion to Prime status.
- Animated Sentinel Prime also made a Generation 1-based cameo as a background Carcerian in IDW Publishing's Windblade vol. 2 #7.
