Crowmax is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.
CROOOOW!

A ruthless opportunist, Crowmax (クローマックス Kurōmakkusu) is at the head of a massive and efficient supply transportation network operating across planet Beast, including the passenger airline Crow Airline. It is said he can get you just about anything within twenty-four hours. He put this vast network to work for Alligatron during his insurrection, but following the end of the Great War, he has resumed normal business operations, as well as serving as the Emperor of Nupal and advisor to the country's King, Black Jaguar.

Crowmax is capable of achieving an airspeed of Mach 3, matching his rival Flykick, but his inability to make sharp turns at high speed continues to put him at a disadvantage. His MVP Weapon, the Big Hook (ビッグフック Biggu Fukku, and stop giggling) has incredible lifting power when charged, enabling him to easily carry incredible weights as long as part of the lifted object is inside the hook.

  • Accessories: Scythe
Released in the third series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Crowmax is an anthropomorphic crow in aqua robotic armor. The Battle Emblem on his chest reveals one of three symbols when warmed up; Fire, Water or Wood.
During this line, Crowmax was only available in the Burstsun Special Set (バーストサンスペシャルセット Bāsutosan Supesharu Setto) multipack. This blindpacked set contains 10 figures out of a potential 14. Thankfully, these were not randomly-packed, and came in two distinct lineups.
The first version has White Leo with an exclusive "Burstsun" Battle Emblem, Black Jaguar, Būpink, Dog Hunter, Dream Eater, Muskhorn, Pangol, Slo, White Cow, and Udan.
The second version has Ghost Alligatron, Black Jaguar, Būpink, Crowmax, Earthhog, Mingo Kid, Pangol, Slo, White Cow, and Udan.

  • ID number: 72
  • Accessories: "Big Hook" MVP Weapon
Re-released in the Transformers-less Beastformers sequel series, Crowmax was given a straight re-release with new packaging and a new, more filled-out bio card with corrected coloring. This new card also gave his weapon, now branded an "MVP Weapon", the name "Big Hook".
He was sold in the second assortment of individually-packed Beastformers, with a peg-hole in the top flap, and a sticker on the bottom with his name and role on it. This series did not have any kind of "rare card" random pack-in promotion.
Late in the run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)

Notes

[edit]
"I'm different!"
  • Crowmax's 1987 art incorrectly gives him a silver-colored weapon. His retouched 1988 bio card corrects this error, gives him more toy-accurate colors, as well as replaces his black-ink feathers with very dark gray.
  • His "Burstsun Special Set" art (seen at the top of this article) also incorrectly renders him with a silver weapon, but it does that for everyone whose actual toy-weapons are purple.
  • His 1988 bio card gives him the nickname "Mack" (マック makku).
