Battlefennec

Battlefennec is a Laser Beast or Predacon from the Generation 1 continuity family.

The strategist of the Shield Battler-6, Battlefennec (バトルフェネック Batorufenekku) is a quick-witted, intuitive sort. He is capable of looking at any situation from multiple angles and create bold, decisive battle plans. However, even for a team notable for being much more independent-minded than the rest of the Laser Beast Corps, he's very independent-minded. He's a real "my way or the highway" type, often uncooperative and more than a little selfish. While this is perhaps not ideal for small unit tactics, he is also possibly the bravest of the six, instantaneously springing into action with risky moves and daring plans the others couldn't even contemplate. He may not play by the rules, but he gets results!

Of course, he gets a fair bit of help from his MVP Weapon, the Trick Spark Laser (トリックスパークレーザー Torikku Supāku Rēzā). A charged-up burst of its beam can leave targets dazed and confused, easily susceptible to suggestion.

Battlefennec and the rest of the Shield Battler-6 attacked and defeated Bombsheep by knocking over his Stag Hunter vehicle, then scattered when Platinum Tiger arrived with the Tiger Hunter. Beastformers VS Laser Beasts

Beast Wars: Uprising

The Cybertronian Fennec was a Predacon supremacist working for the Mayhem Attack Squad in Iacon. During the Grand Uprising, Fennec and his posse attempted to take possession of a Targetmaster named Twirl who escaped the Extirpation, but she was killed before they could sweep her up. Fennec roughed up the Maximal Command Security Force investigator Wolfang who was looking into her death. By their second encounter, though, Wolfang was ready for Fennec, and he was beaten. Released in the "Laser Beasts" portion of the post-Transformers-branded Beastformers toyline, Battlefennec is an anthropomorphic fennec fox in high-tech dark gray armor. He has a transparent orb in his torso, revealing the elemental power of Fire, Water, or Wood when you look through it into a light source.

Aside from his "Trick Spark Laser" MVP Weapon, he comes with a unique fox-themed shield that can clip to his arm. This shield also be slotted into the front of a W Battler sled, and have Battlefennec's rifle mounted on the top via its handle, forming an armed chariot he can ride.

Battlefennec was only available as part of the "Shield Battler-6" gift set, along with Fighthorn, Grencats, Killerhound, Manteaufrenzy, Stronghurricane, and two W Battler sleds; one gray, one red. He was released as an individual "Battle Charger" in the super-late-run European-release Hasbro Battle Beasts line, coming with his gun, shield, and a purple sled, a color not available in the Takara line. Both releases command large sums on the secondary market.

Notes

Thing is, this deco wouldn't have been out of place in early Battle Beasts.

• In the Hero Special 12: Laser Beasts mook, Battlefennec's profile art has been grievously miscolored (seen right), giving him green fur and black armor with magenta accents. Presumably, the cyan and yellow layers of CMYK printing got omitted by mistake.
• It is unknown what Battlefennec's Hasbro Battle Beasts name would have been.
