Rampage is a pretty violent guy. A member of the Constructicons, he can be followed by the trail of destruction as he wrecks his way through the battlefield, leaving the smell of diesel fumes and hot tar in his wake. His chassis is covered with scratches, dings and dents as a testament to his intense love of battle. Thoroughly whacked in the cranial unit, his idea of beauty is a pile of Autobot wreckage.

There are at least two 'bots of the same model that come in red and yellow. Either one of them can form the left leg of Devastator. He used to call himself Skipjack, but renamed himself to avoid confusion with another Constructicon of the same body-type.

There are two of him: one of them is yellow and forms Devastator's left leg.

After Ravage retrieved the shard from NEST's secure bunker in Diego Garcia, Rampage was among the Constructicons who secreted themselves aboard the Bayos freighter heading towards the North Atlantic. Once the ship passed over the Laurentian Abyss, Ravage flew onto the ship and accidentally crash-landed on Rampage. Once they reached the specific site, the Decepticons jumped overboard and dove down to where Megatron's broken body lay. When Scalpel examined Megatron's body, he ordered the death of the smallest Constructicon for donor parts, which they obliged. Soon, Megatron was reborn!
Rampage's body type was one of the early "construction drones" used to build star harvesters. One of the Rampages, who was neither red nor yellow, joined the Fallen's original Decepticons. He tried to battle the turncoat Jetfire and was quickly taken out. Tales of the Fallen issue 3

During Operation: Firestorm, Rampage was waiting in the Egyptian town to lure Sam Witwicky into a trap by releasing his captive parents, Ron and Judy. Sam was willing to trade the remains of the Matrix for his parents, but when he realized Bumblebee had arrived, the boy managed to position Rampage for an attack. After a long battle (which also resulted in the death of Ravage), Bumblebee finished Rampage by ripping his arms off and over-extending his neck with a powerful kick, killing him. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (film)

Two years after the events in Mission City, Decepticons were once again active on Earth. When Soundwave intercepted the location of the AllSpark shard and the final resting place of Megatron, teams were dispatched to bring about their commander's resurrection. After Ravage retrieved the shard from Diego Garcia, he led Rampage, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Scalpel and a smaller Constructicon to the depths of the Laurentian Abyss. When Scalpel examined Megatron's corpse, he ordered the larger Constructicons to kill "ze little one" for donor parts, which they obliged.

Meanwhile, Rampage himself appeared during the battle in the Egyptian town to lure Sam Witwicky into a trap by releasing his captive parents, Ron and Judy. : Part of the Takara "EZ Collection" series, Rampage transforms into a bulldozer similar to a Komatsu D575A. His robot mode is only capable of assuming his "jackhammer" mode, but the treads on the sides of his lower body help keep him upright.

Toys
: He can also combine with the other six Constructicons (sold separately) to form a tiny little Devastator: Rampage becomes the combined mode's left leg.

:Rampage and the six other Legends class Constructicons combine to form Devastator. In Japan, the Legends class Constructicons are sold individually. Unlike the deluxe toy, he does not feature a "standard" robot mode, but has the (in fiction) jackhammer mode. Also unlike the Deluxe toy, he can stand in this mode. He forms the left leg of Devastator.
: This mold was also used to make Bonecrusher for the Japanese-exclusive Generation 1-colored Devastator set.

:Rampage transforms from a yellow bulldozer similar to a Komatsu D575A into one of two robot mode configurations, the first of which (his actual in-fiction robot form) is distinctly Vehicon-esque. It lacks any functional legs, instead featuring a spring-loaded "jackhammer" assembly. When the figure is bounced along the ground in this mode, his Mech Alive feature is activated, and a pair of pistons that frame his head pump back and forth. The shovel can be removed in this mode and used as a stand.  If legs are preferred, his jackhammer splits and his elaborate kibble backpack unfolds, together forming four leg-struts to create a free-standing robot form that is rather centaurian in design. Though not mentioned in the instructions or package, the aforementioned backpack can remain folded in robot mode for a more movie-accurate, two-legged 'play' mode of sorts. He features real rubber treads which become arm-mounted whip weapons in robot mode. Unfortunately, due to this design, the treads themselves do not function in vehicle mode.

:Like several toys in the Revenge of the Fallen toyline, Rampage has had a mold change done somewhere between his instructions being drawn up and the final version of the toy. On the final toy, the rear flap behind the cabin of the bulldozer runs into a screw section used to hold the robot pelvis together. This change also affects where the rear flap and the bulldozer shovel connect in robot mode. On the instructions, this flap is shown as folding flat against the back of the vehicle and said flap is also folded down much farther in robot mode to connect to the shovel. The mold change seems to account for the shovel connection issue in robot mode, but not the problem in vehicle mode. Unlike some others, this change does not directly affect any of the toy's action features or articulation.

:Much like several other Revenge of the Fallen toys, Rampage is based on very early concept art, depicting a robot form with a very rectangular "jackhammer" leg (most forms of concept art that came beyond this point had his "jackhammer" leg designed to be more like a curvy "tail", much like the final film's CGI model).

:TakaraTomy went much further than Hasbro with their version of red Rampage, dubbed "Decepticon Rampage Desert Combat"; Rampage features redecoing on his shovel blade to match the one used on the Rampage prop vehicle seen in the movie (including horizontal lines to match the slatted look of the prop). The figure also features a more screen-accurate red and yellow color scheme, much like his on-screen counterpart.

:Released in time for the tenth anniversary of Revenge of the Fallen, Studio Series "Constructicon Rampage" is accurate to the character's appearance in Revenge of the Fallen, complete with tiny painted warning labels in his armpits. He comes with two blasters, made from the pistons of his vehicle mode, that can be placed inside his hand, and a cardboard backdrop display depicting Operation: Firestorm. Owing to Rampage's unique monopod design, the figure also comes with a small black plastic base to help him stand (or you could try to balance him with the post on the bottom of his jackhammer), which can be stored between his treads in vehicle mode. In combined mode, the stand plugs into Devastator's rump.

:Unfortunately, all releases of Rampage suffer from a major misassembly: The joint that connects the upper and lower torsos, featuring a sculpted robot waist and a transmission unit, is flipped compared to the CG stock renders, resulting in the robot waist being present in bulldozer mode and vice-versa. The misassembly does not affect the transformation, though the pinned construction of the joint means it is risky to swap it around.

:Rampage can be combined with the other Studio Series Constructicons to form Devastator. Though he was one of the first Constructicons to be released in the line, Hasbro originally intended for Rampage to be displayed alongside Bumblebee, rather than being Devastator's leg. Rampage was later redecoed into Skipjack, who had been the original intent for the combiner, but since both Skipjack and Rampage share the same design it gave fans the option to use Rampage instead if they wanted.

:Despite it not being mentioned in the instructions, Rampage's blasters fit very cleanly into the two vertical slots on the bulldozer's blade for storage. This is especially useful in foot mode since it completely frees up the ankle pivot when compared to their default placement. However, as the slots are coated in the same silver paint as the rest of the blade, care should be taken when inserting the guns so as to not chip the paint. It's recommended to place the blasters so their barrels point downward in foot mode for the easiest time with storing them. Bizarrely, the pistons even being blasters isn't touched on by the instructions at all, with them always being shown plugged into the body as the vehicle mode pistons.

Images of the actual toy itself
:Like the majority of the Studio Series Constructicons, he lacks a Decepticon symbol.

TakaraTomy later used the name Skipjack for a yellow redeco of the 2010 Legends class Rampage toy.
*Starscream calls the red Rampage by name in the film. Secondary sources such as the Devastator toys and the The Movie Universe name the yellow Devastator components as Rampage. So, not only do the Decepticons have the same body-form, they have the same name. While other Constructicons have doubles, Rampage is the only one where all the versions of him are explicitly named.
**Hasbro later released a yellow repaint of Rampage in the Studio Series toyline that also went by the name Skipjack as a means to give fans an accurate Devastator. Although it hasn't officially been confirmed that Skipjack was the one who appeared in the film as Devastator's left foot, Hasbro employees who worked on Studio Series Devastator referred to Skipjack as being the yellow bulldozer from the film. As such the toy bios for both Rampage and Skipjack reflected this notion for their involvements in the film. A deeper look into this identity headache can be found on Skipjack's page.

*While Starscream calls the red bulldozer "Rampage", secondary sources such as early Devastator toys and The Movie Universe refer to the yellow bulldozer who forms Devastator's left leg/foot as "Rampage". But as stated before, new information in 2020 from behind the scenes at Hasbro suggests that they may have retconned the yellow bulldozer's involvements in the film as actually being Skipjack.
*Due to his small size, the yellow Rampage combines with a yellow dump truck to form Devastator's leg in the film. Another yellow bulldozer forms the hand on Hightower.
*In the scene where all the Constructicons wait aboard the barge for Ravage and the AllSpark shard to arrive, a red bulldozer representing Rampage is visible in the flyover shot. But in the next scene where Ravage crash-lands into Rampage upon arrival, the bulldozer is suddenly recolored yellow. When the Constructicons transform into robot mode and dive into the water, the bulldozer is colored red again.

**In short, it is Rampage (rather than Skipjack) who is present during Megatron's resurrection. Trying to distinguish how many Constructicons appeared in Revenge of the Fallen only continues to get harder with each watch.
*Both the Robot Hero and the Mega Powerbot version of Devastator depict Rampage as orange. To date, no separate toy of him has been released in this color.

Latest revision as of 16:14, 10 November 2025

The name or term "Rampage" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Rampage (disambiguation).
Rampage is a Decepticon Constructicon from the Revenge of the Fallen portion of the live-action film continuity family.
Try yellow, it's the new red.

Rampage (alias Lasher and Whipmaster[1]) is a pretty violent guy.

Fiction

[edit]

Revenge of the Fallen film

[edit]
Voice actor: Kevin Michael Richardson (credited as "Skipjack")
I can't feel my legs! Oh, right.

I told you not to go there!

Revenge of the Fallen

Rampage's involvement in the preceding events, or events mostly similar, were also chronicled in the novel The Last Prime; the comic mini-series Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Official Movie Adaptation; and the storybooks "I Am Optimus Prime" and "Rise of the Decepticons".

IDW movie comics

[edit]

Rampage's body type was one of the early "construction drones" used to build Star Harvesters. One of the Rampages, who was neither red nor yellow, joined the Fallen's original Decepticons. He tried to battle the turncoat Jetfire and was quickly taken out. Tales of the Fallen #3 Tales of the Fallen #4

Toy bios

[edit]

Rampage lives for combat, finding happiness in the violence that ensues. He has heard stories of Bumblebee’s skill and was looking forward to testing himself against it. He could already imagine his whips tearing his enemy's armor to pieces. N.E.S.T. Global Alliance Rampage

Rampage and Sideways burst from their cover when they found Breakaway and Longarm hunting them. While Sideways battled Longarm through the streets, Rampage's incredible strength made him more than a match for Breakaway. Autobot Strike Mission toy bio

Besides Bumblebee, another Autobot that Rampage hated was that Landmine. Landmine VS Rampage

Rampage's last known location during the Hunt for the Decepticons was a junkyard in Chicago, where he was recuperating from heavy damage (presumably that suffered in his last fight with Bumblebee). Rampage Among The Ruins

Games

[edit]

Transformers: The Ride – 3D

[edit]

Rampage was among the Decepticons that attacked the grand opening of the new N.E.S.T. training facility. Optimus, Bumblebee and N.E.S.T. managed to repel the attack. Transformers: The Ride – 3D Grand Opening (Orlando)

Toys

[edit]
As of 2020, Hasbro's stance on the yellow bulldozer forming Devastator's leg appears to have changed; retconing Skipjack in place of Rampage (see: Skipjack (ROTF)#Who is Skipjack?). This would mean that the combining Rampage toys from the Revenge of the Fallen toyline could also be considered Skipjack.

Revenge of the Fallen

[edit]

Legends Class

[edit]
Also known as Rampage "Three Legs" Skipjackson.
  • Decepticon Rampage (EZ Collection DX, 2009)
Part of the Takara "EZ Collection" series, Rampage transforms into a bulldozer similar to a Komatsu D575A. His robot mode is only capable of assuming his "jackhammer" mode, but the treads on the sides of his lower body help keep him upright.
He can also combine with the other six Constructicons (sold separately) to form a tiny little Devastator: Rampage becomes the combined mode's left leg.
This mold was also used to make Bonecrusher for the Japanese-exclusive Generation 1-colored Devastator set.

  • Constructicon Devastator (Legends Class multi-pack, 2010)
In Hasbro's markets, the Legends Class Constructicons were sold together in a 7-pack. They are otherwise identical to the prior Takara releases. In the United States and Canada, said exclusive lies with Walmart. In the United Kingdom, the set was only available through Argos.
This set also included Hightower, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Overload, Scavenger, and Scrapper.

  • Decepticon Rampage Desert Combat (Legends Class multi-pack, 2009)
A red redeco of Rampage was made available as an exclusive to Japanese Toys"R"Us stores in late November. Limited to 4000 pieces, he came as a free gift with the purchase of 3000 yen of TakaraTomy Transformers product.

Let's see what you can see...

Deluxe Class

[edit]
He can whip it. Whip it good.
  • Rampage (Deluxe Class, 2009)
Rampage transforms from a yellow bulldozer similar to a Komatsu D575A into one of two robot mode configurations, the first of which (his actual in-fiction robot form) lacks any functional legs, instead featuring a spring-loaded "jackhammer" assembly. When the figure is bounced along the ground in this mode, his Mech Alive feature is activated, and a pair of pistons that frame his head pump back and forth. He features real rubber treads which become arm-mounted whip weapons in robot mode but due to the design, the treads themselves do not function in vehicle mode.
Like several toys in the Revenge of the Fallen toyline, Rampage has had a mold change done somewhere between his instructions being drawn up and the final version of the toy.
Much like several other Revenge of the Fallen toys, Rampage is based on very early concept art, depicting a robot form with a very rectangular "jackhammer" leg (most forms of concept art that came beyond this point had his "jackhammer" leg designed to be more like a curvy "tail", much like the final film's CGI model).

  • Autobot Strike Mission (Multi-pack, 2009)
Available as a Sam's Club-exclusive, Rampage was packed with Movie Longarm, Breakaway and a "battle damaged" version of Sideways.

Has probably never fought Depth Charge, sadly.
(Hasbro version pictured)
All is darkness.
(TakaraTomy version pictured)
  • Rampage (Deluxe Class, 2010)
  • TakaraTomy name: Decepticon Rampage Desert Combat
  • TakaraTomy ID number: RD-21
As a redeco of Rampage's first Deluxe Class toy in red, this release of Rampage represents a more movie accurate version of the Rampage who fought Bumblebee in Egypt. Hasbro's version of red Rampage is a straight colour swap, with his yellow plastic replaced with red plastic. As one of the last two figures released in the Revenge of the Fallen deluxe assortment, the red version of Rampage and his casemate Evac were insanely difficult (if not impossible) to find in U.S. retail stores.
TakaraTomy went much further than Hasbro with their version of red Rampage, dubbed "Decepticon Rampage Desert Combat"; Rampage features redecoing on his shovel blade to match the one used on the Rampage prop vehicle seen in the movie (including horizontal lines to match the slatted look of the prop). The figure also features a more screen-accurate red and yellow color scheme, much like his on-screen counterpart.

Supreme Combiner Class

[edit]
He joined the Constructicons since Bob the Builder didn't want him.
  • Constructicon Devastator (Supreme Combiner Class, 2009)
Rampage is the yellow Caterpillar D11 bulldozer that transforms into the left leg of Devastator. Like the other Constructicons in this set, he does not have an individual robot mode. He can only form Devastator's left leg, unless you want him to walk backwards. He has the code "AN-KA 111308" imprinted below his Decepticon symbol.

Mega Power Bots

[edit]
  • Constructicon Devastator (Mega Power Bot, 2009)
Mega Power Bots Devastator is a simple toy for younger children, featuring plenty of playing sounds and flashing lights. His limbs have limited swivel articulation and do not detach into separate vehicles. He has a distinctly more humanoid stature than normal.
Unlike regular Power Bots, and unlike other portrayals of the character in general, Devastator features a transformation! It consists of putting his arms up and laying him flat on his stomach, which lets him roll around using the wheels on his limbs.
Pressing down the Decepticon shield on his crotch (!) spins the vortex in his chest, lights up his eyes and makes him utter one of many Welker-recorded phrases, including "Prepare for extermination!", "Crush Autobots!" and "I am Devastator!" Pressing on the crane of his excavator arm makes a cannon blast sound effect, while pressing the cab of his loader arm turns the scoop into claws.

Transformers (2010)

[edit]

  • Rampage (Legends Class, 2010)
This Legends Class Rampage is different from Revenge of the Fallen Legends Class Rampage. Because he is not encumbered with the need to combine, both his robot and vehicle modes are much more accurate and detailed. His "jackhammer" mode can be achieved by connecting his legs together and flipping his cab-feet down as the tip (as per the stock photos), although he will not be able to stand up well. Meanwhile, his instructions depict a more stable biped configuration, with his legs spread out and his cab-feet folded back in their vehicle mode position as his heels.
This mold was redecoed into Skipjack.

You mean I'm neither yellow nor red? Well, that's a shock.
  • Constructicon Devastator (Legends Class multi-pack, 2010)
A Toys"R"Us-exclusive Generation 1-themed redeco of Legends Devastator and his components. Unlike TakaraTomy's go at the same idea, Rampage and the other Constructicons are mostly just lime green and gray, with the only bits of purple being their windshields. They do, however, have brown paint operations on and around their wheels to simulate dirt.
He's also still Rampage, whereas TakaraTomy's version is a different character named Bonecrusher.

  • Rampage Among The Ruins (Multi-pack, 2010)
This Toys"R"Us-exclusive multi-pack contains a more screen-accurate red redeco of Deluxe-class Rampage, with a deco similar, but not identical to that of the Japanese Desert Combat Rampage. He is packed with Bumblebee and Ravage, replicating the battle scene that led to the two Decepticons' deaths in Revenge of the Fallen.

  • Megatron Rising (Multi-pack)
This retailer exclusive multi-pack recreates the scene in Revenge of the Fallen where the Constructicons resurrect Megatron. The Rampage figure itself appears to be an unchanged version from the Revenge of the Fallen release of the Legends Constructicon Devastator combiner figure, and comes packed with (apparently) similarly unchanged Constructicon Devastator figures of Long Haul, Mixmaster, a red redeco of Scrapper, and a metallic green redeco of Revenge of the Fallen Voyager Class Megatron.
It has never been revealed for which retailer this multi-pack was intended.

  • Constructicon Rampage (Voyager Class, 2019)
  • Movie: Revenge of the Fallen
  • Hasbro ID number: 37
  • TakaraTomy ID number: SS-33
  • TakaraTomy release date: April 27, 2019
  • Accessories: 2 hand blasters, base, "Pyramid Desert Battle" backdrop (2nd version)
  • Known designers: Mike Booth (Hasbro), Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy)
Released in time for the tenth anniversary of Revenge of the Fallen, Studio Series "Constructicon Rampage" is accurate to the character's appearance in Revenge of the Fallen, complete with tiny painted warning labels in his armpits.
Unfortunately, all releases of Rampage suffer from a major misassembly: The joint that connects the upper and lower torsos, featuring a sculpted robot waist and a transmission unit, is flipped compared to the CG stock renders, resulting in the robot waist being present in bulldozer mode and vice-versa. The misassembly does not affect the transformation, though the pinned construction of the joint means it is risky to swap it around.
Rampage can be combined with the other Studio Series Constructicons to form Devastator.
Despite it not being mentioned in the instructions, Rampage's blasters fit very cleanly into the two vertical slots on the bulldozer's blade for storage.
Like the majority of the Studio Series Constructicons, he lacks a Decepticon symbol.

Robot Heroes

[edit]
He's ready to re-enact his favorite scenes from Castlevania on Mudflap.
  • Mudflap & Rampage (Two-pack, 2009)
Robot Heroes Rampage is a cute little figure sculpted hitting the ground in his jackhammer mode. His stubby little whips are deployed, and he has swivel articulation in his shoulders. Rampage is only available in a two-pack with Mudflap.

I'm orange now? Come on!
  • Desert Devastation (Multi-pack, 2009)
Rampage is the sculpted left leg of "Desert Devastation" Devastator, a super-sized Robot Heroes figure. He is only available in a multi-pack with Skids & Mudflap in their combined vehicle mode and Captain William Lennox.

Burger King

[edit]
Carved entirely from delicious butter.
  • Devastator (2009)
An extremely-simplified version of Rampage's vehicle mode is included as part of Burger King Devastator. Though his ball socket is compatible with any of Devastator's limb connections, it's marked with a D to indicate he forms Devastator's left leg.

RPMs - Robot Powered Machines

[edit]

Just throw your whip-wielding claws up in the air!
  • Landmine VS Rampage (RPM Mini-Vehicle "Battle Series" pack, 2009)
Number six in a series of eight Robot Powered Machines Mini-Vehicle versus packs, "Battle Series" Rampage is packaged with the Autobot Landmine. He's a non-transformable Hot Wheels-like car, with his robot mode sculpted and painted onto his underside. He also features a slightly-articulated shovel, probably for better rolling on tracks. He has through-axle construction similar to the Generation 2 Go-Bots, letting him zip along smooth surfaces (and compatible racetrack sets) at high speed.

Notes

[edit]
For those of you who thought FIRRIB was too retreaded, here's "RIRSIY"!
  • Although his correct, finalized name is used in the film (in on-screen subtitles, to be precise), Rampage is listed in the credits under his preliminary name of "Skipjack". Much confusion ensued, since nobody had actually heard this preliminary name before. As seen in concept art, during production, Rampage was referred to as "Jumping Jack". TakaraTomy later used the name Skipjack for a yellow redeco of the 2010 Legends class Rampage toy.
    • Hasbro later released a yellow repaint of Rampage in the Studio Series toyline that also went by the name Skipjack as a means to give fans an accurate Devastator. Although it hasn't officially been confirmed that Skipjack was the one who appeared in the film as Devastator's left foot, Hasbro employees who worked on Studio Series Devastator referred to Skipjack as being the yellow bulldozer from the film.[2] As such the toy bios for both Rampage and Skipjack reflected this notion for their involvements in the film. A deeper look into this identity headache can be found on Skipjack's page.
  • While Starscream calls the red bulldozer "Rampage", secondary sources such as early Devastator toys and The Movie Universe refer to the yellow bulldozer who forms Devastator's left leg/foot as "Rampage". But as stated before, new information in 2020 from behind the scenes at Hasbro suggests that they may have retconned the yellow bulldozer's involvements in the film as actually being Skipjack.
  • In the scene where all the Constructicons wait aboard the barge for Ravage and the AllSpark shard to arrive, a red bulldozer representing Rampage is visible in the flyover shot. But in the next scene where Ravage crash-lands into Rampage upon arrival, the bulldozer is suddenly recolored yellow. When the Constructicons transform into robot mode and dive into the water, the bulldozer is colored red again.
    • In short, it is Rampage (rather than Skipjack) who is present during Megatron's resurrection. Trying to distinguish how many Constructicons appeared in Revenge of the Fallen only continues to get harder with each watch.
