MechTech is a subsection of the Transformers: Dark of the Moon toyline.
It includes the Deluxe, Voyager, Leader, and Ultimate class, and some of the Human Alliance toys. Its main gimmick revolves around huge transformable weapons that attach to both vehicle and robot mode and other MechTech weapons via 5 mm posts. Unlike previous attachable weapons, the MechTech system often utilizes retractable pegs to fill in the holes when not in use.
The working name for this line was "CyberTech" (with the Cyberverse subline being dubbed "Megaverse"), and it could be seen on receipts for toys purchased at retailers, in the name of some exclusive products on retailer web sites, and on the shipping cases for the products themselves. The reason for the change is unknown.

Notes
[edit]- According to Josh Nizzi's designs, the MechTech gear was supposed to appear on film: Sentinel Prime's "cosmic rust gun" was apparently another form for his shield (and no, it's not the same blaster as the Leader toy).<ref>Josh Nizzi's Dark of the Moon concept art</ref>
- Years before the Dark of the Moon franchise, Hasbro designated a "Fox Kids" Transmetal variant toy of Cheetor as "Mech-Tech Cheetor", though this was not reflected on the finalized packaging.
