It's time to double up!

It has been suggested this article should be merged with Transformers: Armada (toyline).
If you disagree, please discuss why on its talk page.

This article is about the subline imprint. For the book, see Transformers Armada: The Unicron Battles.

The Unicron Battles was the subline imprint for the last portion of the Transformers Armada franchise in late 2003.

The last few waves of the Armada toyline had a The Unicron Battles imprint, as did the last 12 episodes of the Armada cartoon, beginning with episode 41, "Depart". Naturally, the change came about to better promote the new toy of Unicron, the first official toy of the character to ever be released, and easily the largest figure released in Armada (or in the preceding ten or more years.) The cartoon underwent a shift in storytelling direction that focused less on the fight for the Mini-Cons that had been relevant up until the point of this change, and more on the looming threat of Unicron's coming. The Dreamwave Armada comic was even more suddenly and radically shifted to a Unicron focus, without even the slightest bit of advance build-up.

Notes

  • There were two different types of "Unicron Battles" packaging: The first version was simply the original red and blue Armada packaging with an added "The Unicron Battles" logo sticker, whereas the second version sported a new color scheme in black, orange and blue that had the "Unicron Battles" logo as an integral part of its packaging design for the larger toys. Some toys were available in all three packaging variants.
