Pounce

Pounce is a Decepticon Clone from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Pounce is the Decepticon equivalent of Repugnus (though the difference between the two is fairly microscopic). He does the dirty jobs that even the other Decepticons find repugnant. And as far as he's concerned, the dirtier the better. Anti-social, vicious, nasty, wily, silent, deadly and merciless are all appropriate descriptors for Pounce. What few realize is that much of Pounce's success at his job stems from the carefully cultivated reputation he's created for himself.

Pounce is the clone brother of Wingspan.

Pounce and Wingspan sneaked into Autobot City to retrieve the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. Counterpunch tried to warn them that his Autobot counterpart was not only nearby, but REAL nearby, but they didn't listen. Despite showing an obliviousness usually reserved for Lois Lane, the Clones beat Punch when he showed up and returned the Key to Scourge so that his unit could infiltrate the Plasma Energy Chamber itself. The Decepticon Clones were recruited by Galvatron after betraying their former friends, the Autobot Clones. Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship As Scorponok abandoned Earth in favor of conquering Master, Pounce was one of his many troops seen attacking the planet's fortifications. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2) The Clones later assisted Scorponok in setting up Death Towers across the Earth. Heavy damage by Sixshot broke their necks, The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 1) but they were seemingly repaired and resumed their mission in time for the final battle. Their fate subsequent to the Decepticons' retreat from Earth is unknown. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)

Legends comic

Pounce and Wingspan sought vengeance on the world for being treated as lab rats for cloning experiments, and having failed to reach their goal by becoming powerful Decepticons, they returned to the Pirate Planet in 2021 to search for traces of proton energy. Discovering a portal to another dimension and reasoning that the energy must be on the other side, they passed through and discovered Spoilsport, Peacemaker, and Pinpointer, who had absorbed the energy and grown super powerful. The Clones saw this as their chance to get their due by conquering the world and seized the Targetmasters, using them to defeat Metroplex. However, they were confronted by their Autobot counterparts who separated them from the Targetmasters and forced them to flee. Bonus Edition Vol. 61

Transformers in 3-D

Pounce and Wingspan volunteered along with Flywheels for Sixshot's mission to make Hot Rod's weekend more interesting. The outcome of the mission was never revealed. The Test

The two clones spied on the Autobots as the existence of Metascan Alpha was revealed. After using their identical appearances to confuse the Autobots, the pair returned to the derelict destroyer to report to Galvatron. Living up to his name

One of the Clones was seen on the Decepticon orbital station. Given that it was apparently a monitoring or data entry post, it was probably Wingspan. Spotlight: Sixshot

A few years later, Pounce was among the Decepticons who gathered on a barren planetoid under Starscream's rule. When it was discovered that Dreadwind had been stealing fuel for himself, several Decepticons began hunting him down, and Pounce was the one to sniff the thief out. Pounce and Wingspan were among the Decepticons in Autobot captivity on Cybertron when the Transformers finally reclaimed their planet. The Death of Optimus Prime When Megatron returned from a long absence, the two joined the other Decepticons in rioting in celebration. City on Fire

When the resurrected Scorponok returned to Cybertron with a Gene Key capable of turning Autobots into Decepticons, Pounce "readily" agreed to follow the former Headmaster as Soundwave was off-planet and Scorponok had already killed Misfire for questioning him. Natural Selection, Part Three

While manning the Civil Defense Hub at Iacon during Scorponok's insurrection, the Clones detected Ultra Magnus and the Valiant returned from their Earth mission. They planned to lure the unsuspecting Autobots into range and then blow them out of the sky. Natural Selection, Part Four The free remaining Autobots on Cybertron managed to retake the Hub, however, capturing Pounce and Wingspan. When the pre-programmed missiles began flying at the Valiant, Crosshairs demanded the pass-code from Pounce. Pounce and Wingspan ran through the Earth wilderness in perfect step, ending some acrobatics over a rocky terrain with weapons-fire towards Fastlane and Cloudraker. • Pounce and Wingspan (Clones, 1987)

Pounce and his brother Wingspan were available as a two-pack set. Each came with a pair of rifles and two rub-sign insignias, one identifying them as Decepticons and the other distinguishing the two by revealing an image of their alt mode....if you don't turn around the figure to see the pink puma legs on the back of the arms. Pounce transformed into a puma. His weapon can be held as either a gun or a blade.

The Chinese release of Pounce & Wingspan has their second rubsign, indicating alternate mode, replaced with a foil Decepticon sticker.

• Dread Pirate Crew (BotCon 2014 souvenir two-pack)

The Timelines Dread Pirate Crew are redecoes of Prime: Robots in Disguise Deluxe Class Vehicon, specifically the Japanese toolings. The pair member representing the Pounce bodytype is redecoed from the car Vehicon.

The Dread Pirate Crew also comes with two differently colored versions of the Arms Micron Igu; the Pounce body-type is matched up with the Arms Minicon named Plunder.

• Siege On Cybertron (Gift set, 2017)

Titans Return "Decepticon Pounce" is a Legends-sized figure that transforms from robot into a mechanical puma in just a few steps.

As with all four of the Clones in this line, Pounce has a (non-heat-sensitive) painted symbol evoking his original rubsign.

Pounce was only available as part of the "Siege of Cybertron" set, which also includes Magnus Prime & Ginrai, Fathom & Tidal Wave, Professor Go & Metalhawk, and Thunderwing. In the United States, this set was exclusive to BigBadToyStore, but it saw a wider release in Canada where it was available at Toys"R"Us, Amazon, the Canadian Walmart online store, book store chain Indigo and several PC retailers (seriously!). Additionally, it was also available at retail in Hong Kong and Singapore and even saw an official release in the Netherlands, where it was exclusively available from BOL.

Pounce was later retooled into his brother Wingspan.

War for Cybertron: Earthrise

• Decepticon Clones 2-Pack (Multi-pack, 2020)

"Decepticon Pounce" and his brother Wingspan received a re-release as a two-pack for the Earthrise lineup. The decoes of both figures are identical or near-identical to those from TakaraTomy's Legends Clonetron Set.

Like all Earthrise toys, the inside of the back of the Pounce & Wingspan package includes an exclusive clip-and-save piece of a larger star map. Also in the box is a thin red piece of transparent plastic with which to read the star map. The Decepticon clones' piece of the map contains the labeled location of the planet “AQUATRON”.

This set was released as a Target exclusive in the USA and a Toys"R"Us exclusive in Canada.
