And sometimes they learn the wrong lesson (or the right lesson the wrong way) and turn out like Sentinel Prime (alternatively known as Sentinel Minor, Sentinel Major, and [sigh] Sentinel Magnus).
Sentinel was once one of the impulsive-types until a disastrous "unsanctioned" mission he'd suggested with best friends Optimus Prime and Elita-1 ended in the loss of Elita. Though both 'bots carried the grief, Sentinel blamed Optimus for abandoning her.
