Cratermaker is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Siege portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

An extreme devotee of siege mentality, Ground Force Weapons Raider Cratermaker digs new defense facilities wherever he goes.[1]

Cratermaker is a retool of Siege Flak, with a new head sculpt based on Bombshock and colors in homage to the original Flak toy's Japanese release Powerbomb. He transforms into a self-propelled semi-Cybertronic missile system. As part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System, he forms the barrel of the "Gravatronic Rubblemaker Cannon" when combined with his pack-in partner Fireline (or any other iteration of that mold).
He was only available as part of a Target exclusive ten-pack of Micromasters, which includes the Autobots Ground Shaker, Irontread, Overair, Ricon, Road-Police, and Wheel Blaze, and the Decepticons Fireline, Nightflight, and Slyhopper.

Notes

  • The Zone sub-franchise from which Powerbomb hails typically recast Hasbro's Decepticon Micromaster toys as Autobots, sometimes giving them new names in the process; Cratermaker's status as a renamed Decepticon version of the Autobot Powerbomb is perhaps an inverted homage to this practice.
  • Stock photos on Target's website showed Cratermaker as a straightforward redeco of Flak, lacking the new head sculpt featured on both the back of the box and the final toy.

Foreign names

  • Japanese: Cratermaker (クレーターメーカー Kurētāmēkā)
