Robert Epps is a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He's under the command of Captain William Lennox. He frequently demands the bringing of things, such as it. He is entitled to wear the scarlet beret of Air Force Combat Control. This means he made it through "Superman School", so he's one of four characters referencing Superman. He keeps a Visa credit card in one of his many back pockets. The one on his left butt cheek, to be specific.

Sergeant Epps and the other soldiers under Captain Lennox's command were returning to SOCCENT Forward Operations Base after some hard duty. When Lennox revealed that wanted to go home to see his baby girl more than anything else, Epps joined in with the men in teasing their commander. As night fell, a mysterious MH-53 helicopter arrived at the base, and after being surrounded by dozens of troops, it suddenly transformed into a giant robot which proceeded to attack the base. Epps ran and ordered other soldiers to ready combat stations as they were under attack. The giant robot narrowly misses crushing him as he used his digital recorder to take footage of the strange machine. Fellow soldier Figueroa saves Epps by firing a sabot round at the robot, which allowed Epps to escape. Epps links up with the rest of Lennox's team and the Captain's little buddy Mahfous and high-tails it out of the exploding base.

In the aftermath of combat with Scorponok, Epps and the rest of Lennox's Spec Ops team are ordered home to American soil by Secretary of Defense John Keller, who had thought everyone at the SOCCENT base was massacred. They take the end of Scorponok's tail with them on the flight. Doing their own analysis of the piece of robot body, they discover that the Self-regenerating molecular armor doesn't regenerate where hit by sabot rounds, which Epps confirms is "something like" a 6000 degree magnesium burn. They call the Pentagon again, telling them all gunships have to be loaded with sabot rounds to fight these things.
Later, Epps and the team land at Nellis Air Force Base. Instead of being debriefed on site, a guy from Sector Seven grabs one of their bags and orders them to come with him. This is confusing, since Sector Seven doesn't exist.
Epps and the team are driven to Hoover Dam, where they stand around looking awesome in their fatigues as other people who know about the alien robots arrive. Everyone files inside Hoover Dam, where Sector Seven has been hiding the leader of the evil alien invaders and the All Spark for 80 years. Upon seeing a thick steel door with triple claw marks in it, Epps wants to know what the hell, was Freddy Krueger in here? A geek points out that Freddy Krueger got four claws, that was Wolverine! Shortly thereafter, a kid gets in a fight with Reggie Simmons of Sector Seven over whether or not to release the good alien robot who's been disguised as a Camaro. Lennox attempts to settle the argument by putting his sidearm to Simmons' forehead, and Epps backs up his Commanding Officer in the geometrically complex standoff that ensues. They win. Losing's not really an option for these guys.
While everyone's still inside Hoover Dam, the Decepticons attack, knocking out power. All communications are dead as the giant evil robot leader thaws out. After calling the Air Force with Morse code, the only thing left to do is get the All Spark to Mission City, where it can be hidden in the urban jungle until the military arrives to evacuate it by helicopter. Epps complains when handed a couple of very large shortwave radios that these are "Radio Shack dinosaur radios, won't be able to work more than 20 miles."
Later, making a stand in Mission City, Lennox and Epps say "Bring the rain!" again. Stuff gets brought. While the Air Force brings it, Epps and the rest of the team fight the Decepticon tank with all five of the good robots, which almost gets him killed. Luckily, that robot Camaro zips in on the back of a tow truck and saves him. Then he helps Lennox kill that helicopter who killed their comrades in Qatar.
IDW Transformers Movie Adaptation
Epps is in the same scenes as in the film, but he doesn't get any of his great lines. It can assumed this is because instead of Tyrese Gibson, the part of Epps is played by G.I. Joe figures Alex Milne had on his drawing desk.

Once again, he's in all the same scenes as in the film. This time he does bring his signature lines.
