The Transformers Trading Card Game is a collectible card game in which players build teams of both Autobots and Decepticons to battle other players. The game was revealed in July 2018 by Wizards of the Coast where attendees of Gen-Con and SDCC were able to purchase an exclusive set-card pack.

The game uses simple mechanics in which players take turns doing a multitude of things, from drawing cards to flipping their character cards to their alt-modes. As of 2018, there are currently 40 Wave 1 character cards, 81 Wave 1 battle cards, 4 Starter set character cards, 1 Titan card, 3 Metroplex Deck character cards, and 3 Metroplex battle cards. A second wave, branded as "Rise of the Combiners" is planned for release on March 1st, 2019 and adds new characters and battle cards, including Combiners that require multiple character cards to use.

Notes

  • The artwork used on the cards originates from various sources. Character cards, for example largely reuse packaging art and character art from Transformers Legends, while the battle card artwork is sourced from the IDW comics. Beginning with Wave 2, some new cards such as Windblade featured all new art.
