This article is about the Star Trek organization. For the human government from the Unicron Trilogy, see Earth Federation.

The Federation is a 23rd-century interstellar union that includes humans, Andorians, Vulcans, and various other species located in the Milky Way. They don't get along with the warlike Klingons of the neighboring Klingon Empire.

Certain Federation vessels, such as USS Enterprise, belong to an organization known as Starfleet.

Prime's Directive, Part Five The mine proved a tempting target, was eventually attacked by a Klingon warbird under the command of Kuri, though the Federation facility had defenses that were able to fend off the vessel.
