War for Cybertron: Earthrise

We hope you really like this weapon accessory!
  • Cliffjumper (Deluxe Class, 2020)
    • Hasbro ID number: WFC-E7
    • TakaraTomy ID Number: ER EX-05
    • TakaraTomy release date: June 27, 2020
    • Accessories: Three-piece blaster, 2 skis, car trunk
After years of mostly being a Bumblebee redeco, Earthrise Cliffjumper is a cartoon-accurate mold (complete with accurate, non-Bumblebee head; although he does have Bumblebee's biceps), while omitting the Penny Racer aesthetic for his vehicle mode, transforming into a 1980s sports coupe that is strongly reminiscent of his original Porsche 924 Turbo alt-mode, though with a front end which resembles that of the Mitsubishi Starion. Cliffjumper also has molded high-performance brake discs, a surprising detail for a mainline Transformers figure. In keeping with his depiction as being rather small in most Transformers media, this figure is much smaller than a typical Deluxe Class and is closer to being a particularly large Legends class-sized figure. Like all Deluxe Class figures of the War for Cybertron subline, Cliffjumper includes numerous 3 mm posts and 5 mm ports for attaching other accessories as part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System, but due to his small size he cannot easily accommodate an entire Weaponizer or Modulator figure. Additionally, he is highly articulated for a mainline Legends-sized Transformer, with over 90-degree ankles and two-way elbows, and a complex transformation scheme. Undocumented in the instructions, Cliffjumper's ball-jointed neck is actually mounted on a hinge, and when popped out of its housing offers a larger range of articulation.
The rest of his price-point is made up for with his arsenal, that being a large cannon similar to one he briefly used in the G1 cartoon episode "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1", which can split into two smaller blasters and a pair of skis which can attach under his wheels as seen in "Dinobot Island, Part 2". The backend of the cannon can fold out to fit in his car mode's underside to help balance when skis are deployed, while also being usable as a melee weapon. It can also mount on either his thigh or on the side or top of his shoulder meaning you can put the entire cannon in these spots. Similarly, his detaching car trunk can either be put into the robot mode's back or be used as a shield with help of a flip-out peg. This peg and the backend of the cannon use a unique post and port to connect to each other.
The promotional renders and early product samples showcased at conventions showed his weapons and skis being silver, while the final product had them cast in black plastic (with the guns being painted silver except for their handles). The majority of Cliffjumper is molded in black plastic with a generous coating of red paint, which can be chipped due to his transformation scheme, namely the tabs on his shoulders. His forearms and most of his head appear to be the only pieces molded in red plastic. It is also not uncommon to find scratch marks in the red paint right out of the box.
Similar to the first release of Starscream from the previous line, Cliffjumper uses the movie variant of the Autobot insignia, rather than the traditional G1 design. Due to the transformation engineering, the insignia is hidden away in robot mode, with no secondary insignia to display.
Like all Earthrise toys, the inside of the back of Cliffjumper's package includes an exclusive clip-and-save piece of a larger star map. Also in the box is a thin red piece of transparent plastic with which to read the star map. Cliffjumper's piece of the map contains a labeled entry point to the "DEAD UNIVERSE".
His glass gas blaster is sold separately as part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy Deluxe Centurion Drone Weaponizer Pack.
In Japan, Cliffjumper is released as a Takara Tomy Mall exclusive.
Cliffjumper was retooled with a new head into Generations Selects Hubcap, Bug Bite, Shattered Glass Collection Goldbug, Buzzworthy Bumblebee Bumblebee, and more extensively retooled into War for Cybertron Trilogy Bumblebee, a reverse to the traditional norm.

Generations Selects

Phew, okay, one other use of it is probably fine.
  • Hubcap (Deluxe Class, 2020)
    • ID number: WFC-GS13
    • Accessories: Three-piece blaster, two skis, car trunk
A Generations Selects add-on to Earthrise, Hubcap is a redeco/retool of Cliffjumper, sporting a new head. Hubcap transforms from robot into a 1980s sports coupe that is strongly reminiscent of his original Porsche 924 Turbo alt-mode, though with a front end which resembles that of the Mitsubishi Starion, while omitting the Penny Racer aesthetic. Hubcap also has molded high-performance brake discs, a surprising detail for a mainline Transformers figure. Much like Cliffjumper's other mold-mates, Hubcap's depiction as being rather small in most Transformers media means this figure is much shorter than a typical Deluxe-priced figure and is closer to being a particularly large Legends-priced figure. Like all Deluxe Class figures of the War for Cybertron subline, Hubcap includes numerous 3 mm posts and 5 mm ports for attaching other accessories as part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System, but due to his small size he cannot easily accommodate an entire Weaponizer or Modulator figure. Additionally, he is highly articulated for a mainline Legends-sized Transformer, with over 90-degree ankles and two-way elbows, and a complex transformation scheme. Undocumented in the instructions, Hubcap's neck is actually mounted on a ball-joint, and when popped out of its housing offers a larger range of articulation.
The rest of his price-point is made up with Hubcap's large cannon. It can split into two smaller blasters and a pair of skis that can attach under his wheels. The backend of the cannon is folded out to fit in his car mode's underside to help balance when skis are deployed, while also being usable as a melee weapon. It can also mount on either his thigh or on the side or top of his shoulder meaning you can put the entire cannon in these spots. Similarly, his detaching car trunk can either be put into the robot mode's back or be used as a shield with the help of a flip-out peg. This peg and the backend of the cannon use a unique post and port to connect to each other.
Almost all of Hubcap's yellow coloring is painted, with only his head and forearms being bare yellow plastic. While this avoids color disparity, particularly in vehicle mode, it also means he is incredibly prone to paint chipping. So, uh, be careful handling him.
This mold was differently retooled into Generations Selects Bug Bite and Shattered Glass Collection Goldbug, and further retooled into War for Cybertron Trilogy Bumblebee.

Okay, this is the third time, but at least it's an attractive purple!
  • Bug Bite (Deluxe Class, 2020)
    • Hasbro ID number: WFC-GS16
    • TakaraTomy ID number: ER EX-27
    • TakaraTomy release date: June 26, 2021
    • Accessories: Three-piece blaster, 2 skis, car trunk
A Generations Selects add-on to Earthrise, Bug Bite is a redeco/retool of Cliffjumper, with the head from War for Cybertron Trilogy Bumblebee. This version of Bug Bite displays a black Mercenary faction symbol on his chest, as per his appearance in the War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon.
Bug Bite transforms from robot into a 1980s sports coupe that is strongly reminiscent of a Porsche 924 Turbo, though with a front end which resembles that of the Mitsubishi Starion, while omitting the original Collector's Edition toy's Penny Racer aesthetic. Bug Bite also has molded high-performance brake discs, a surprising detail carried over from a mainline Transformers figure. Much like Cliffjumper's other mold-mates, Bug Bite's depiction as being rather small in most Transformers media means this figure is much shorter than a typical Deluxe-priced figure and is closer to being a particularly large Legends-priced figure. Like all Deluxe Class figures of the War for Cybertron subline, Bug Bite includes numerous 3 mm posts and 5 mm ports for attaching other accessories as part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System, but due to his small size he cannot easily accommodate an entire Weaponizer or Modulator figure. Additionally, he is highly articulated for a mainline Legends-sized Transformer, with over 90-degree ankles and two-way elbows, and a complex transformation scheme. Undocumented in the instructions, Bug Bite's neck is actually mounted on a ball-joint, and when popped out of its housing offers a larger range of articulation.
The rest of his price-point is made up with Bug Bite's large cannon. It can split into two smaller blasters and a pair of skis that can attach under his wheels. The backend of the cannon is folded out to fit in his car mode's underside to help balance when skis are deployed, while also being used as a melee weapon. It can also be mounted on either his thigh or on the side or top of his shoulder meaning you can put the entire cannon in these spots. This peg and the backend of the cannon use a unique post and port to connect to each other.
Almost all of Bug Bite's white coloring is painted, with only his head and forearms being bare white plastic. While this avoids color disparity, particularly in vehicle mode, it also means he is incredibly prone to paint chipping. The mold was differently retooled into Generations Selects Hubcap and Shattered Glass Collection Goldbug.
The toy is branded as part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy toyline by Hasbro in the US but as part of Earthrise TakaraTomy in Japan.

War for Cybertron Trilogy

Now this is just getting excessive. Good thing we're done with it.
  • Bumblebee (Deluxe Class, 2020)
    • TakaraTomy ID number: WFC-09
    • TakaraTomy release date: January 20, 2021
    • Accessories: Three-piece blaster, 2 skis, car trunk/shield
Part of the second wave of War for Cybertron Trilogy Deluxe Class toys, promoting the Earthrise season of the Netflix cartoon, Bumblebee is a retool of Earthrise Cliffjumper, having all of the original figure's vehicle mode parts replaced with those of a licensed Volkswagen Beetle without the "penny racer" proportions, along with a new head sculpt. (It's also worth noting that almost all of Bumblebee's yellow coloring is painted, with only his head and forearms being bare yellow plastic, which avoids color disparity, particularly in vehicle mode.) On both of his ends, the bumpers/fenders are made of soft rubbery plastic. Bumblebee also has molded high-performance brake discs, a surprising detail carried over from a mainline Transformers figure. Much like Cliffjumper's other mold-mates, Bumblebee's depiction as being rather small in most Transformers media means this figure is much shorter than a typical Deluxe-priced figure and is closer to being a particularly large Legends-priced figure. Like all Deluxe Class figures of the War for Cybertron subline, Bumblebee includes numerous 3 mm posts and 5 mm ports for attaching other accessories as part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System, but due to his small size he cannot easily accommodate an entire Weaponizer or Modulator figure. Additionally, he is highly articulated for a mainline Legends-sized Transformer, with over 90-degree ankles and two-way elbows, and a complex transformation scheme. Undocumented in the instructions, Bumblebee's neck is actually mounted on a ball-joint, and when popped out of its housing offers a larger range of articulation. The housing has also been updated for seemingly no reason, with a taller "collar" section compared to Cliffjumper and Hubcap.
The rest of his price-point is made up for with Cliffjumper's bazooka, now painted in slightly darker gunmetal color and lacking the paint on the rear piece. The entire cannon can split into two smaller blasters and a pair of skis that can attach under his front wheels. The backend of the cannon folds out to fit in his car mode's underside to help balance when skis are deployed. It can also mount on either his thigh or on the side or top of his shoulder meaning you can put the entire cannon in these spots. Unlike his mold-mates, 5 mm port holes are absent in Bumblebee's vehicle parts, meaning displaying the bazooka in vehicle mode requires the rear of the car mode to be transformed differently so the car trunk post has space to flip out and connect to the back-end of the cannon.
Similarly, his detaching car back-end can either be put onto the robot mode's back or be used as a shield with help of a flip-out peg. This peg and the backend of the cannon use a unique post and port to connect to each other. Also unlike his mold-mates, the pegs that connect the car trunk with the robot fists in vehicle mode are now complete circles instead of half circles. These larger pegs are a very tight fit in the fists; detaching the trunk requires using excessive force on a small, thin, painted plastic piece. Filing or sanding the pegs down can make transformation more feasible.
As per the norm, the stock renders depict him with sharp head-horns, but the final product has them rounded off.
Much like the rest of the War for Cybertron Trilogy toyline, promoting the Netflix-original series of the same name, Bumblebee is exclusive to Walmart in Canada and the US but was released at standard retail in Asia.
His G1 cartoon-accurate blaster is sold separately as part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy Deluxe Centurion Drone Weaponizer Pack. However, there is no way to store this blaster while Bumblebee is in vehicle mode.
The original Cliffjumper version of the mold was given two new head toolings to make Generations Selects Hubcap and Shattered Glass Collection Goldbug respectively, and was also given Bumblebee's head to make Selects Bug Bite.

Buzzworthy Bumblebee

Dangit, Bumblebee got this weapon AGAIN? How many times can Bumblebee get Cliffjumper's weapon?!
  • Worlds Collide (4-pack, 2021)
    • Series: War for Cybertron Trilogy
    • Accessories: Three-piece blaster, 2 skis, car trunk, Allspark
Released as part of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee "Worlds Collide" 4-pack, this Bumblebee features the body of Earthrise Cliffjumper, while retaining the Bumblebee head from the Netflix-branded War for Cybertron Trilogy toy. Essentially a redeco of War for Cybertron Trilogy Bug Bite, Bumblebee transforms into a custom 1980s sports coupe; hybridizing the Porsche 924 Turbo and Mitsubishi Starion models. He retains the bazooka included with all versions of the mold, this time painted green to resemble the bazooka Ironhide used in "Transport to Oblivion." He also comes with the Allspark, redecoed from the War for Cybertron Trilogy Megatron/Fossilizer Skelivore Spoiler Pack.
Included in the set alongside Bumblebee is Nemesis Primal, Blackarachnia, and Fangry with Brisko. Outwardly branded as part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy on the packaging, the instructions label the set as part of Studio Series, under the 2007 Transformers movie, instead.
The set was found in a Walmart in the U.S.[1] prior to an official reveal from Hasbro, possibly due to a shipment error. As with other Buzzworthy Bumblebee toys, it is exclusive to Target in the U.S.

Shattered Glass

*throws up hands in the air, storms off*
  • Autobot Goldbug (Deluxe Class, 2021)
    • Accessories: Three-piece bazooka, 2 skis, car trunk
Released as part of the Shattered Glass Collection subline, "Autobot Goldbug" is a new-head retool of Earthrise Cliffjumper. Unusually small for a Deluxe Class figure, Goldbug transforms into a custom 1980s sports coupe; hybridizing the Porsche 924 Turbo and Mitsubishi Starion models. Goldbug's vehicle mode possesses molded high-performance brake discs, carried over from a mainline Transformers figure. As can be expected of a figure based on a War for Cybertron Trilogy release, Goldbug includes numerous 3 mm posts and 5 mm ports for attaching weapons, Fire Blast effects, and other accessories as part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System/F.O.S.S.I.L. Technology. However, attaching a Weaponizer/Modulator/Fossilizer figure can be challenging due to Goldbug's small size.
Goldbug features a redeco of Cliffjumper's bazooka. It can split into two smaller blasters and a pair of skis that can attach under his wheels. The backend of the cannon can fold out to fit in his car mode's underside to help balance when skis are deployed, while also being used as a melee weapon. It can also be mounted on either his thigh or on the side or top of his shoulder meaning you can put the entire cannon in these spots. Similarly, his detaching car trunk can either be put into the robot mode's back or be used as a shield with the help of a flip-out peg. This peg and the backend of the cannon use a unique post and port to connect to each other. Goldbug appears to use the updated taller "collar" assembly introduced on Bumblebee.
Goldbug also includes the fourth issue of IDW Publishing's Shattered Glass "Shards" mini-series, with an exclusive cover featuring spot UV.
Much like the rest of the subline, Goldbug is a Hasbro Pulse exclusive in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. His existence was spilled by Hasbro Pulse prematurely when Shattered Glass Collection Starscream's front page advertisement named Goldbug instead of Starscream,[2] much like the accidental reveal of Siege Red Wing and Earthrise Thrust.
This mold was also used for War for Cybertron Trilogy Selects Hubcap and Bug Bite, and was extensively retooled into War for Cybertron Trilogy Bumblebee.

This item is currently scheduled for release, but is not yet available at mass retail.

Notes

  • Cliffjumper's bazooka is described in the "More Than Meets The Eye, Part 1" script as a "BAZOOKA-LIKE weapon" and in the "Transport to Oblivion" script as a "bazooka-like tube, the end studded with a circular series of smaller 'rifle' bores." It's not mentioned in the "Ultimate Doom" script. In the the packaging copy for the sixty-billion toys of it, it's referred to merely as a "weapon accessory."
