Formatting problems (just me?)

Now that the server has changed, all the formatting seems to have changed! Templates that should be on the right and next to the text (e.g. on episode pages) are on the left and pushing the text down! Is anyone else seeing these problems? --Flicky1991 07:06, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

We're on a newer version of MediaWiki, and it broke some of the templates. It'll be fixed soon, once we figure out why they're not formatting up right.--Rosicrucian^Talk 07:22, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

As I said on the Community Portal just there, various LocalSettings.php variables like $wgAllowUserCss and $wgUseSiteCss appear to have gone from "true" to "false" (or just plain deleted - I think they default false) in the move. - SanityOrMadness 07:39, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Go Box problem?

Not On Schedule

Current Releases Series Addition

Dunno who added the series abbreviation before each entry under the IDW Transformers section under Current Releases (MtMtE, RiD, Spotlight, Monstrosity) but I really like it. Makes it easier to quickly tell which latest item you're looking for. Could the same be done with the other categories (Transformers Prime especially)? Excise 13:10, 12 June 2013 (EDT)

Transformers Expo

I'll do my best. Anyway, I've found four Expos in Asia, including ones from, South Korea, Malaysia, Macau and Singapore. They all share similar names (Transformers: 30th Anniversary Exhibition, Transformers Expo, Transformers 30th Anniversary Expo for the last two. They seem to be the same in a traveling exhibition, but I can't find any concrete evidence...(The one from Korea seems especially independent) Also, where should I put the events on the main page?Optimus Prime (Convoy) (talk) 22:04, 31 October 2014 (EDT)

Events should only have a page if they're specifically organized by Hasbro and/or Takara, though we have an unofficial conventions page for conventions which aren't. I strongly suspect you're right about that being a traveling expo, and that it started with Transformers China Exhibition. If there's no way to prove it, I guess we need to make separate pages for them though, perhaps with notes linking them. If any of the (official) expos are currently running, we could stick them at the bottom of Main Page/featured-series. --abates (talk) 22:36, 31 October 2014 (EDT)

GoBox Issues

Is the GoBox just not showing up at all for anybody else? I've been browsing the wiki and the GoBox is just...gone. It's not like the image just broke, the entire thing is gone. Did the staff get rid of it or is it just bugged out? (I'm using the latest version of Google Chrome, for the record, just in case it's a browser thing). Firefox is doing the same thing. The strange thing is, I don't even see the place where the GoBox should be. Everything below has been moved up to compensate for the loss of the GoBox. Yep. I see them too. Thank goodness. I don't have the numbers, but I suspect the GoBoxes get us a large amount of our site traffic, not to mention being part of the site's charm. Glad to have them back!

There's an automated process that saves a copy of Template:Goicons which is what is actually used as the gobox list. Once in a blue moon it messes up and saves a blank copy and the goboxes break. --abates (talk) 22:44, 28 December 2015 (EST)

Linking to Category:Images to be replaced

I was thinking it would be nice if there was a link to Category:Images to be replaced somewhere on the main page, perhaps in Main Page/editing-tips, so that new editors can find the category easier and maybe help us replace some of the sub-par images on the site. Current Releases RID linking?

Other wiki plagiarizing

So I was trying to find online stores for transformers and I found this other transformers wiki (http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Bombshell) pretty much all the articles are just direct copies of pages on this wiki —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Milthar (talk • contribs) 16:11, 17 May 2016‎.

That wiki didn't copy us so much as they used to be us. We used to be on Wikia, and then Wikia got progressively more terrible so we decided to leave. But then Wikia wouldn't delete the old version of the wiki, so it stayed up and has been shambling along as sort of a zombie-wiki ever since. --Andrusi (talk) 13:12, 17 May 2016 (EDT)

HELP an under-construction wiki regarding ads?

Hello, I'm the head admin of a fellow wiki currently in the final stages of becoming independent from Wikia. There is only a very small amount of things left to do before making the official reveal, one of those (and a rather important one) being ads. Can anyone tell me how you added the "Advertisements" port on the sidebar on the left? And how you added things to that such as a Donate button? I can't seem to find any useful info online. Is it an extension that is being used, and if so, in what way and what extension is it? If you don't know how it works but maybe you know someone who does know, can you lead me to a way to contact them so I can ask? The wiki URL is my username, but add a .org at the end.

The code to insert the ads is all from Project Wonderful. Once you sign up and create advertising space with them, they provide you with some javascript and you can add it to your site's skin. --abates (talk) 20:49, 1 September 2016 (EDT)

Wait, so does that include whatever is used to create the actual sidebar portlet? As in, the actual box that says "ADVERTISEMENT" and contains these ads? Apologies, I missed your previous message. You'd need to add the code to MonacoBook.php, yes. Fair point, but does it matter that it's part of an official partnership deal? Go! Box

The goboxes run off a cached copy of the goicons template, which is only updated once a day, so if they break because someone messed up the coding, it'll stay broken for 24 hours unless the cache is updated manually. --abates (talk) 06:48, 3 September 2017 (EDT)

Navigation menu

In fact... is there some reason we don't add currently-selling major toylines to the Navigation bar? There is NOTHING linking to Siege or Studio Series or BotBots on the mainpage first-screen (unless you get lucky with a Go! Box); you gotta scroll down and dig out a link from the "Schedule", and the most obvious direct links are at the literal bottom of the page. This seems very wrong, especially given there are now three non-continuing series in the Navigation bar (which also end up in the "Current Releases" box on the right).

I think he's asking why the comic series is included on here at all when it's not a Transformers comic nor tied to any Transformers media. Like, why not have GBWiki do that instead? Adding icons for the IDW Hasbro and GoBots wikis

There was some discussion on the Allspark thread a couple of weeks ago about adding icons for the two sister wiki to the Main Page alongside our Twitter and Tumblr links (and also remove the Blogspot link) with a couple of mockups made to show what it would look like. Okay, looking around a bit at places where I know it is linked from I have discovered that the sidebar links to Transformers Wiki:Community portal and the actual page is Transformers Wiki:Community Portal. Notice the capitalization difference. --Khajidha (talk) 09:01, 25 November 2020 (EST)

Fall of Cybertron toyline

I find it odd that Fall of Cybertron is the only franchise in the Series Information featurebox to not have a link to its own toyline. Even the original War for Cybertron has a redirect pointing to its five toys released on the Generations line. It wouldn't get its own article, though it's not absolutely clear where in our Optimus Prime (G1)/suite it would go. It blurs the line between toy and merchandise, and if it's a toy at all it would probably go on the "old" toy page simply because it isn't Generations. Remastering the Wiki's logo and background

This proposal is to recreate the current logo and background of the wiki in nicer quality and colors that are more accurate to the Transformers Animated logo.

It would NOT be a redesign of the wiki's skin, I'm talking about simply replacing the current files for ones in a nicer resolution. This would also be more convenient to any social media publication that requires the use of the logo, which has become a running issue due to the unavailability of a high quality file of it. To elaborate on the colors, the current logo and background have noticeably darker and purpler shades of blue than the Animated logo, so ideally the new versions would correct that.

As an added value, having newer files whose PSD/AI files are available could open the doors to variations for Holidays such as Christmas or Halloween, which had been done in the past. MrRald (talk) 16:54, 26 October 2023 (EDT)
