The Autobots sneak inside Megatron's lair to steal back data on Scorponok.

Synopsis

Mirage explains to Elita-1, that she and the rest of Team Prime will have to break into Megatron's base if they want to retrieve the data on Scorponok, thankfully, Mirage tells Elita, he has all the know-how needed to bypass most of the base's security, he just needs Team Prime to open a few doors for him inside. Meanwhile, Bumblebee desperately tries to dodge cannon fire, and when Elita snarks at him for calling for help, he goes to shoot at the cannons himself, only to find they're shielded. When Bee asks whether they're prepared for this occasion, Mirage answers by becoming visible right between the remaining cannons and then flying away, letting them take themselves out. He explains to a questioning Bumblebee that someone has to be cannon fodder when grilled on why he didn't make Bumblebee invisible, too. Just then, a new set of cannons appears on top of the building, but Optimus Prime jumps up and cuts them down before they can do any damage. He then gives the go-ahead for phase two of the heist.

The Megatron is a lie.

Bumblebee, Elita, and Mirage enter the base from the front entrance, with Elita almost falling into an acid pit a short way into the trip. They all eventually make it out of the acid pit and into a room where Elita holds down a lever so that the building's defenses don't cook Optimus to death while the others move on. Optimus opted to make his way in through the vents, a fact Elita chides him for, but Prime insists was the best course of action. Elita tells Bumblebee and Mirage to hurry up as she is getting tired, so Mirage instructs Bumblebee to stop goofing around in Megatron's body and pass through the gate already. Bumblebee passes the optical scan easily but finds the voice authentication a lot more difficult. The fact that Elita is under fire by a cannon that just appeared and that Optimus is being pursued by molten lava does nothing but put pressure on the poor bot's shoulders, but after Mirage diverts some missiles from him, he finally passes and Team Prime goes to claim the data while Mirage leaves to avoid facing Megatron's wrath. While reviewing the data, they find logs of experiments that were done on Scorponok. Optimus then discovers a Power Siphon that Megatron used to store energon and boost himself when needed. Elita claims that the device's current lack of energon suggests that Megatron powered up to go fight Scorponok. Prime is motivated by this to pursue Megatron and save Scorponok's life. At Bumblebee's suggestion, both Bee and Optimus upgrade themselves to better function in a desert environment, and all of Team Prime use the leftover energon to level themselves up.

At the desert, Chop Shop and Sky-Byte assure Scorponok that the Decepticons mean no harm to him, and Megatron adds that they are friends and want to help him.

Notes

Continuity notes

  • When Megatron tells Scorponok that he wants to help, he shows him a small energon siphon very similar to the one our protagonists used in episodes prior.
