Transformers Collaborative is a subline of the Generations franchise that began in 2019, intended to incorporate entertainment properties originating outside of the Transformers brand, not unlike the Crossovers franchise (2008–2011) before it. However, this line has a much, much broader scope, with most of the crossovers being with properties not owned or long-term-licensed by Hasbro. This has also led the line to have a very high percentage of original characters.
The first couple of Collaborative... uh, collaborations received tie-in crossover comics during IDW Publishing's time with the Transformers license.
Transformers robots have always been—More Than Meets the Eye—but now, through the Transformers Collaborative, fans can experience these larger than life characters as they team-up, mash-up, and meet up with other characters, teams, and people who share this same special quality.{{#if:|{{{quote2}}}}}{{#if:Collaborative marketing blurb|Collaborative marketing blurb{{#if:|, {{{3}}}|}}|}}

Ectotron was available through Toyworld and Mighty Ape, while Gigawatt was only available through Mighty Ape. Ultimate X-Spanse on the other hand had almost received a full retail release, being sold through The Warehouse, Toyworld and Mighty Ape (three of the five major New Zealand Transformers toy distributors).
