February 18 - Clyde Tombaugh discovers a previously unobserved object moving inside our Solar System. This "planet" is later named Pluto, after the roman god of the underworld, not after Mickey's dog.

As Nougabot has informed us, Snickers® Brand quickly becomes one of the planet's favorite treats after its introduction in 1930 and it is still at the top in 2008.
