Saw

When a sword just doesn't provide the cutting power required for the task, Transformers may prefer using saws as their melee weapon(s) of choice. Saws offer great cutting power, cannot be blocked as easily as swords and are generally very intimidating. From time to time, saws may come in handy as construction or medical tools, for gardening purposes, cutting up tasty fish or as torture devices. Cereal Serial killers love these.

Fiction

Generation 1

• Hot Rod is armed with a circular saw in his left arm. This is the tool he used to free Kup from the squid creature that was attacking him. It is also great for cutting up portions of fish.

Super-God Masterforce

• Gilmer is armed with an Aqua Saw.

Generation 2

• The Auto Roller Roadblock is armed with a circular saw.

Beast Wars

• Rhinox's 'Chain Guns of Doom' seem to have originally been conceived as a type of flail-circular saw weapon.
• Manterror's arms conceal Ion discs that can be fired. He is also known to use his weapons to pick apart his victims piece by piece.
• Scarem's scythes are joined to his arms with a circular saw on each limb, wether they are functional or not, they are pretty intimidating.
• In his Transmetal body, Tarantulas's hand gun doubles as a circular saw.
• Dinobot's cyber-slash tail weapon was once used to cut down wild bean vines.The Low Road

Beast Machines

• Tankor is armed with circular saws in both hands.
• Mol is armed with a buzzsaw shaped missile.

Beast Wars II

• Autocrasher is a redeco of Roadblock and is armed with the same circular saw. In addition, he has trained in Diskmastery
• Mantis, a Manterror repaint (well, barely) is a proficient Diskmaster.
• Hellscream's cyborg beast mode is armed with a saw blade for a nose.

Beast Wars Neo

• Sharp Edge's beast mode is a 'saw' shark!

Universe

• Overbite is a redeco of Hellscream and is armed with the same saw weapon.

Unicron Trilogy

Cybertron

• Landmine is armed with circular saws.
• Evac's helicopter mode propeller becomes a spinning blade saw thing.
• Metroplex's melee weapon Sparkdrinker can convert into a saw weapon.

2007 Movie

• In the final battle in Mission City, Ratchet uses what must have been conceived as a medical saw to amputate Brawl's arm.
• Blackout's helicopter mode tail becomes a saw weapon in robot mode. In the Movie game, the main vehicle rotor is used as a massive saw weapon to either knock enemies back (Plasystation 2 controller: L2 + Square) or slice them to bits (Playstation 2 controller: Square)
• Evac is a retool of the Blackout toy.

Animated

• Lockdown is known to use a chainsaw-type weapon in combat.
• Bulkhead's leader class toy is armed with a circular saw in his right hand.

Shattered Glass

• Ratchet "repaired" Rodimus by replacing his lost hand with a saw. Dungeons & Dinobots

Revenge of the Fallen

• Blazemaster is armed with a propeller saw weapon than can be split to go on both arms at once.
• Dead End is a retool of Sideways and is armed with the same saw blade in his right hand.
• Evac is now a repaint of Blazemaster and has the same weapons.
• Grindor is a repaint of Blackout and is armed with the same type of saw-propeller weapon.
• Sideways has a saw blade in both hands.
• Whirl is a repaint of the 2007 Movie Evac and is armed with the same type of saw-propeller weapon.

Dark of the Moon

• Optimus Prime added a saw to his arsenal. In the Dark of the Moon video game, he used his saw against Megatron and later against the Driller.
• Roadbuster has a saw in his left arm.

Notes

• Despite not being armed with a saw, it felt wrong not to have a link to Buzz Saw in this article.
• The Mini-Con Buzzsaw is not armed with a saw, only tiny buckets.
