Events
Non Fiction
- 20 years before the merger with Takara, Tomy's US branch registers the name "Scrapper" as a trademark in the "toys" field. This same year, Hasbro releases a Constructicon of the same name. This presumably does not result in any repercussions for Hasbro.
- GiG abandons the Trasformer line and instead re-releases the toys in actual Transformers packaging.

Transformers vs. G.I. Joe
- After its defeat in World War II, Cobra resurfaces as a terrorist organisation. The remains of the Transformers, having been nearly wiped out during the war, are used in a massive arms race.
- A G.I. Joe team led by Flint attacks a Cobra shipping facility in New York City. While the facility is largely destroyed, Destro and Scrap-Iron manage to escape via Trouble Bubble. Soon afterwards, the Joes detect the crash of an Autobot shuttlecraft near Portland. Flint and several other Joes were sent to retrieve it, and after meeting with a rookie team led by Spirit, they repel a Cobra strike team and recover the unconscious Blaster and Perceptor. Along with Duke and Stalker, a retired Scarlett decides it is time to tell the new recruits about their adventure with the Transformers. Targets of Opportunity
