The Transformers: The Headmasters (トランスフォーマー ザ★ヘッドマースターズ) toyline was introduced in Japan in 1987 as a continuation of the main Generation 1 toyline. Its lineup included not only most of the same toys released by Hasbro in the West that year, but also a variety of Japanese-exclusive toys, including Soundblaster and Twincast (redecoed and retooled versions of Soundwave and Blaster, respectively), Stepper, Artfire, the Trainbots, the Autobot Master Warriors, and the W Cassettebots.

The Headmasters toyline also included the Beastformers subline, which Hasbro marketed in the West as the completely separate property Battle Beasts.

Previous toyline: Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010
Next toyline: Super-God Masterforce

Beastformers

Though Beastformers would eventually split off into its own tangentially-connected toyline, the initial set of 28 toys was sold under the Transformers banner in similarly-designed boxes, with Autobot/Decepticon rubsigns. Though not technically branded under the The Headmasters label, we're putting them here for convenience's sake since they were advertized in the Headmasters pack-in catalogs.
