Galactic Council
- The Galactic Council is an organization from the IDW continuity portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Galactic Council is a coalition representing the thousands of intelligent species residing in the galaxy and is primarily involved with negotiating non-aggression pacts between them. They employ a mighty peacekeeping force to make sure everybody honors the pacts, and has an academic arm known as Curricula. The Council is understandably not very fond of either Autobots or Decepticons, whose petty conflict has ruined entire planets and gotten countless innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire, and have blacklisted Cybertronians from joining them.

IDW Generation 1 continuity
The Galactic Council was formed sixteen million year ago, following an event known as "the Shattering" and the start of the Stentarian civil war. You, Me, and Other Revelations According to Wipe-Out, the Council's modus operandi was to target vulnerable organic civilizations and take a chunk of their natural resources as payment for keeping the big bad mechanicals away. An Axe to Break the Ice
The Council recognized Chief Justice Tyrest's neutrality in the Autobot-Decepticon war. Chaos Theory Part 1 During the war they outfitted planets such as Deimus with phobia shields to ward against Cybertronian invasions. The Waiting Game
A few centuries prior to 2017, members of the Galactic Council seceded from the larger organization and became the Black Block Consortia though they kept the same M.O. The Council was not happy at the loss of market share and began a long turf war with the Consortia. An Axe to Break the Ice
The Council shared a border with the Solstar Order known as the Gray Area though the two parties were happy to ignore one another. In the mid-19th century, a vessel from Caminus, ignorant of how hated their Cybertronian ancestors had become, sent a vessel into the Gray Area where a Galactic Council warship mistook it for a Cybertronian vessel and shot it down. When Rom arrived to question the act, the Council saw fit to flee with Rom dismissing them as cowards. Ten solar cycles after the incident, the Solstar Order reached out to the Council to negotiate safe passage for the Space Knights in Council or even Cybertronian space. The Council agreed to the request and sent a delegation to meet at Orchid Crossing but they were slain enroute by a Decepticon/Dire Wraith alliance. Shining Armor #1
Even after the war was considered over, the Council wouldn't return the Autobots' calls, which Starscream joked was at least partly because of the unimpressive housing situation on Cybertron. Stick Together
The planet Theophany was annexed by the Galactic Council following its abandonment, leading to a conflict between the Autobot ship Lost Light and Council peacekeeping ship The Benign Intervention when it arrived on the planet in search of the Circle of Light. Upon learning that Ultra Magnus, who was held in very high regard by the Council for his unwavering dedication to the law, was on board, captain K'gard gave him an offer to join them. You, Me, and Other Revelations
Misfire was captured by the Galactic Council and sentenced to death at Council outpost 113 on planet Constancy, but managed to escape. Arm the Lonely
The Council fought the Black Block Consortia over the wreckage of a second Lost Light near Ofsted XVII. Upon the arrival of the Decepticon Justice Division, who had also come to salvage the wreckage of the Lost Light, the Council and Consortia proceeded to join forces against the D.J.D., ultimately succeeding in forcing them to retreat. Births, Deaths, and Interventions The Permanent Revolution
Upon capturing Grit and his cronies, Drift initially planned to turn them over to the Council, a fate the Decepticons saw as worse than death. Drift - Empire of Stone #1
At an unspecified time, the Galatic Council picked up Overlord and began fixing him up to serve as their hired gun. Do Not Go Gentle
The Council ignored Megatron's new Autobot status until he and his crew saved the organic planet Miliarium. That was an existential threat: if Megatron of all people started saving Council-protected planets, people might start to wonder if they needed a Council. When Getaway contacted the Council for help with his mutiny against Megatron, promising to dump the guy somewhere to be killed as long as they agreed to spare the Autobot 'loyalists' that got dumped with him, General Neech totally promised to do that! Naturally he dropped a geobomb on the Necroworld when it seemed like Overlord was taking too long. Do Not Go Gentle How Bright Their Frail Deeds
