Big Cannon

The Big Cannon (ビッグキャノン Biggu Kyanon) is the personal weapon of the Maximal commander Big Convoy. It is extremely powerful; only the likes of Magmatron could remain functional after even an indirect blast.

By inserting his Energon Matrix into the cannon, Big Convoy can transform it into the Matrix Buster (マトリックスバスター Matorikkusu Basutā). Fueled by this link to the supercomputer Vector Sigma, this weapon is so powerful, even a god might pause when faced with it.

When Big Convoy was busy fighting Magmatron with his hands, the mammoth nose on the Big Cannon pulled its trigger and blasted Magmatron several times, badly wounding him. Mortal Combat! Twenty Thousand Meters in the Sky

In a battle against the Predacons on the planet Jörmungandr, Big Convoy used the Big Cannon to blast Guiledart into pieces, angered that he had interrupted the duel between himself and Dead End by ordering Saberback fire on them. However, the Big Cannon was lost at the last moment when Big Convoy tried to save Break. It was sucked into space along with Saberback and several other Predacons. Later when heading back to Gung Ho, Big Convoy was trouble about why he chose to save Break and let his Big Cannon go, unaware of the growing bond between him and his trainees. 2006 IDW Beast Wars continuity

When Shokaract emerged from his tower on Cybertron, Big Convoy transformed into cannon mode and fired at the mechanical crab. It proved to be ineffective and Big Convoy was destroyed in a blast from Shokaract in response. However, thanks to interference from a chronologically displaced Magmatron, Big Convoy's death was erased from the timeline. Generations Selects Special Comic

Containing the Red Star Power emenated by The One, the all-destroying Matrix Buster, also known as the "Red Matrix" (レッドマトリクス Reddo Matorikusu), was the most important artifact in its native universe. It was made up of a core module taking on a more traditional Matrix shape buried deep within its usual form of a massive cannon. Primus founded the Red Order to safeguard it and defend its universe.

In the final battle between the Primus Vanguard and their ancient enemy the Specters, the Red Order leader Red Sentinel Prime unleashed its Star Power along with the other six Lights to annihilate the Specters, which had the secondary effect of combining their multiverse into a single multicolored world.

Later, Primus, driven to omnicide by grim visions of an apocalyptic future, demanded the Red Matrix so that he might destroy the universe, Red declined and returned to the Red Planet with his Matrix. Finale 1

When Terrormander came to the Red Planet in an attempt to take the Matrix, Red inserted the Matrix into the Matrix Buster to shoot down the Seacon, but he simply brushed off the blast and took the cannon for himself. In the ensuing battle for the seven remaining Matrices of Star Power, the ghost of Blue Big Convoy confiscated the Matrix Buster and used it to give God Neptune a good blast. The victorious Megatron Omega subsequently retrieved the Buster's matrix core as well as the other matrices stolen by the Seacons and began to absorb their Star Power into his own Silver Matrix, only for a vengeful Halfshell to split his head open with the Neptune Sword, interrupting the process and sending the Red Matrix flying. Beast Wars Neo Big Convoy comes with a spring-loaded Big Cannon which can fire two missiles from its two barrels in succession with a rotating dial. Forming the trunk, back, and tail of his mammoth mode, it can be deployed by pulling the entire assembly up, rotating it all the way around, and rearranging his numerous kibbly panels, with the trunk facing backwards, and the cannon facing forward. This rather large accessory ends up on his back in robot mode, and can be detached and transformed for use as a hand-held weapon, although its large mass can make Big Convoy's arms flop down when held.

This mold was redecoed into Universe Nemesis Prime's cannon and Timelines Ultra Mammoth's Blue Bolts cannon.

Notes

• According to the events in the story "Mortal Combat! Twenty Thousand Meters in the Sky" from the Beast Wars Neo manga, the Big Cannon seems to be a part of Big Convoy rather just a weapon.
