Yellow Giraffe (イエロージラフ Ierōjirafu) is a military intelligence combatant in White Leo's army. He is the oldest combatant in the war instigated by Alligatron as well as a famous philosopher, and his mind is an encyclopedic repository of knowledge. Despite his age, his strength is still enormous. Yet he's a gentle giant, and often listens to the concerns of others, such as Rabbit Kid and Hedgehog, with sincere hope he can help others achieve their dreams. His advice has made him so well loved among the people of Beast that many respectfully refer to him as Sir (サー ). He holds the rank of King of Gun Marino, a country that takes its name from the Gun Marino Plateau where he was born, over Emperor Golder.

Yellow Giraffe wields the almost supernatural power to draw out the pleasant side of a person's heart, and even the extraordinarily stubborn Golder will stop and obediently listen to his opinions. His MVP Weapon, the Low-G Bar,[1] can cover him in a layer of metal that disguises him from enemy eyes as well as radar.

FIRE! FIRE BURNS WOOD!

The Headmasters cartoon

Voice actor: ? (Japanese)

The Yellow Giraffes were a species of Beastformer that joined White Leo's rebel forces against the Decepticons and their allies, the evil Beastformers led by Alligatron. One Yellow Giraffe joined in an attack on the Decepticon stronghold, and was attacked by a Snakebomb who leapt out of the nearby water. He was saved by a Golder. Eventually the barrage of firepower from the evil Beastformers became too much and the rebels were forced into retreat.

Thankfully for the rebels, the Autobot Transformers came to aid their efforts, and a few Yellow Giraffes were present to welcome them. One Yellow Giraffe joined White Leo's forces to rescue the Beastformers kept by the Decepticons as slaves. Regardless, they were already rescued and joined with White Leo's forces, just in time to see the Decepticon Transformers in retreat. Rebellion on Planet Beast

The Headmasters manga

Yellow Giraffe, among others, was menaced by Predaking and the Sharkticons, led by Alligatron. They were able to escape when Brainstorm and Highbrow distracted the giant combiner. Yellow Giraffe returned with White Leo and others; together, they were able to defeat the Decepticon Beastformers. The Decisive Battle of Planet Beast!

Transformers: Beastformers

  • Yellow Giraffe (Beastformer, 1987)
    • Beast ID number: 18
    • Accessories: Blade-weapon
Part of the first series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Yellow Giraffe is an anthropomorphic giraffe in blue robotic armor. His left arm ends in a pair of claws. The rubsign on his chest reveals one of three symbols; Fire, Water or Wood.
He was re-released in the subsequent second and third series; while the toy proper was not changed, the packaging and packed-in bio card was. The Series 1 release comes in a generic red-grid "Cybertron Beastformer" box, with a red-grid bio card with a painted character image on the front, though there was a random chance of his card being replaced by the rare "Holography Mirror" card. Series 2 came in a green-grid generic "Cybertron Beastformer" box, with the bio card putting the painted image on a jungle backdrop. Series 3's box was unchanged, but the bio card replaced the painted image with a simpler line-art image, first used in Hasbro's Battle Beasts cast poster. In the green-box releases, depending on the "Pack" he came in, there was a chance of his bio card being replaced with a rare "Secret Photo", "Bewitching Serpent Seal", or "VS Holography Mirror" card.

  • Yellow Giraffe (Gahsapon Beastformer, 1987)
    • Beast ID number: 18
    • Accessories: Weapon
Many of the first-series Beastformers were also sold in gashapon capsule machines, Yellow Giraffe included. This version is identical to the regularly-released boxed version, including the randomized rubsign, except the gashapons appear to have randomized weapons (or just crummy quality control).
There is also a rare all-white/cream version of Yellow Giraffe; these rare versions can vary in how white they actually are, and it's uncertain if that's how they started or if some have simply yellowed with age. These white versions tend to be very expensive on the secondary market.

Beastformers

  • Yellow Giraffe (Beastformer, 1988)
    • Beast ID number: 18
    • Accessories: "Low-G Bar" MVP Weapon
Re-released in the Transformers-less Beastformers sequel series, Yellow Giraffe was given a straight re-release with new packaging and a new, more filled-out bio card with corrected coloring. This new card also gave his weapon, now branded an "MVP Weapon", the name "Low-G Bar" (ロージーバー Rō Jī Bā).
The initial early releases of this series had the chance for any Beastformer to have the rare Burstsun symbol; we'll probably never know if Yellow Giraffe was ever actually one of them. Later in the run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)

  • Beast Planet's Greatest Confrontation Set (Box set, 1988)
    • Accessories: "Low-G Bar" MVP Weapon
Yellow Giraffe was also available in the "Beast Planet's Greatest Confrontation Set" (ビースト星最大の対決セット bīsuto boshi saidai no taiketsu setto), unchanged from his prior releases.
This set also came with Platinum Tiger, Golder, and the Tiger Hunter (same as their prior releases), and the set-exclusive Skullgrotes, Kingbuster, Salmomancer, and a chromed-gold Battle Drill.
This set is particularly expensive on the secondary market, given the entire Laser Beast half of the set is not available anywhere else.
