Doctor Alex Malto is a history professor and massive, massive fan of Bumblebee, possibly not in that order. As the father of the Malto family, he helps keep the peace by defusing tense situations with his always positive demeanor and tasty home cooking. His years spent studying to earn his PhD, combined with his pride in his Filipino heritage, make him a strong believer in the importance of passing down knowledge and traditions, and he's done his best to instill an appreciation for both in his children. He and his wife Dot have their work cut out for them raising not only Robby and Mo, but an expanding number of Terrans, so it's just as well Alex really likes Transformers.

Alex Malto grew up in Bohol in the Philippines and learned to love history from his grandfather, who also taught him the story of the Wakwak. Traditions Alex went on to study history and gained a doctorate. He also married Dot and they had two kids, whom they raised in Philadelphia before moving to Witwicky for Dot's new job as a park ranger.

After Robby got upset at his parents and stormed out of dinner, Alex stayed up late reading and fell asleep at the table. The following morning, Robby and Mo had Alex tell them about the history of the Transformers war while eating burritos so that new Terrans Twitch and Thrash could overhear. Secret Legacy, Part 1 He later joined the rest of the family after the kids were attacked by Arachnamechs and Dot had to bring the Autobots to their aid, learning of the existence of Twitch and Thrash, and Dot's conscription into G.H.O.S.T., and finally got to meet Optimus Prime. After the two new Transformers were abducted by Dr Meridian, Alex waited in the minivan while Dot and the Autobots mounted a rescue. He got menaced by Skullcruncher and Bombshell, but fortunately his favorite Transformer Bumblebee came to his aid. He was overjoyed when he and Dot took guardianship of the Terrans, and Optimus assigned Bumblebee to come live with them as a tutor. Secret Legacy, Part 2

Alex and Dot offered to help Bee with his mission training the Terrans. Alex later subtly hinted that Bee could sign his collection of Bumblebee merchandise, and ran Malto Family Game Night, which ended with Twitch getting upset at Bumblebee. He and Dot gave Bee some encouragement, and after the scout successfully helped Twitch, they held Take 2 of Malto Family Game Night. Moo-ving In After Twitch and Thrash's misbehavior damaged the house, Dot and Alex had to go over the house rules and add a new one banning bots from the house. He and Bumblebee repaired the kitchen, converting the walls so they could open out and allow the bots some access. House Rules When Dot brought Agent Schloder home, Alex ended up babysitting the agent after Schloder requisitioned the high-performance sports car that was hiding in the barn. His attempts to cover up the fact the car was Bumblebee were ultimately successful, though Bee's antics resulted in Schloder opting to requisition a more reliable vehicle. Classified

He read the tale of the Wakwak to Thrash and Twitch, however the next day he found the kids weren't interested in taking part in the traditional Wakwak hunt. He got Bumblebee interested in going instead, by displaying his basketball skills, allowing him to spend some time with his favorite Autobot. Bee eventually left him to go get the kids after realizing what they were missing, however Alex found Robby being menaced by Arachnamechs and after he fought off the critters using his Kali defense technique, Robby joined him on the Wakwak hunt. When they returned home, they found Mo had taught Thrash to play Alex's grandfather's song. Traditions On the first day of school for Robby and Mo, Alex was bringing them their lunches when he was almost run down by an out-of-control Thrash. Friends and Family

The Maltos, minus the Terrans, attended a G.H.O.S.T. Autobot alliance ceremony, only to have to run for cover when it was attacked by Nova Storm and Skywarp, who were aiming to get Optimus's arm. After they regrouped at the farm and Optimus learned of the Terrans' origins, Alex went with Optimus, Bee and the kids to investigate the cave which the Terrans had been born in. They found the Emberstone, which had created the pair, and Alex was present as it created three new Terrans. Age of Evolution, Part 1 Learning that Dot and Megatron had been taken captive by Mandroid, Alex was able to pinpoint her location when Dot released a cloud of purple smoke from Mandroid's base. A rescue was mounted, during which it turned out Mandroid's base was actually a giant mech, and Alex joined the rest of the group in taking it down, in his case by helping his kids take out the mech's external cameras. Dot and Alex's worries at Hashtag going missing were shortlived, as Bumblebee and Twitch returned with the missing Terran, and Nightshade took the opportunity to show everyone the an underground hideout they'd created for the family.
