Nova Storm is a Decepticon from the EarthSpark continuity family.
Bet you didn't expect to see me again so soon?

Nova Storm was once part of the elite squad of Decepticons with jet alt-modes called Seekers. Following the war, however, she and her partner Skywarp have fallen on hard times, and are doing whatever it takes to survive... including making some very bad deals with some very shady characters. Nova Storm isn't very thrilled about their current lot, but what else can she do? It beats being in G.H.O.S.T. custody, right?

...right?

Part of the Decepticon army that traveled to Earth, Nova Storm fell under Shockwave's command when Megatron defected to the Autobots. When the Autobots attempted to return the AllSpark to Cybertron, Optimus Prime hitched a ride on Skywarp's jet mode. Though Nova Storm attempted to shoot the Prime off, she instead caused Skywarp to crash. When Megatron claimed the AllSpark, Nova Storm and Starscream tackled him down but failed to prevent him from launching the AllSpark through the space bridge. Warzone

Stranded on Earth following the destruction of the space bridge, Skywarp and Nova Storm fell into the employ of Dr. Mandroid, being ordered to bring him Optimus Prime's left arm. The two attacked Optimus and Megatron at a public relations event at G.H.O.S.T. headquarters, the ensuing brawl being broadcast on live television. The two put up a very good fight, but ultimately ended up in the dirt, Nova staring down the barrel of Megatron's fusion cannon. Skywarp used a moment's distraction to teleport out from beneath Prime's axe, freeing Nova Storm and flying off. Upon returning to an angry Mandroid, the human decided that their next mission would be as bait.

Using holograms to pass himself and his Arachnamechs off as G.H.O.S.T., Mandroid lured Megatron and Dot Malto to a rail yard where the Seekers were pretending to be prisoners. Skywarp once again teleported away with Nova in tow, and the Arachnamechs leaped and subdued Megatron, leaving the Seekers to tow him away to Mandroid's base. To bring Optimus Prime to him, Mandroid gave Skywarp Malto's badge to show to Optimus. Upon picking up Optimus' signal, the Seekers traveled to the Emberstone's cave. As the humans and Terrans ran back into the cave, the Seekers unleashed a payload of Arachanmechs and took on Optimus and Bumblebee. Once again the pair were beaten, but Nova launched a salvo of rockets at the cave entrance, collapsing the tunnel. But it wasn't enough to stop Optimus from locking the pair in cuffs and leaving them for G.H.O.S.T. to pick up. Age of Evolution, Part 1

Somehow, Nova Storm was able to evade custody, and eventually made her way to Philadelphia and its illegal underground "Bot Brawl" tournament. Ultimately she lost her bout and was hauled away to be stripped for parts. Home, Part 1

During a prison break at G.H.O.S.T. HQ, Nova Storm managed to escape along with Starscream and Skywarp into an old cave system. They soon encountered the Malto kids, but also an energon-eating Dweller which almost ate Nova Storm before the others could rescue her. When the Malto kids came up with a plan to trap the beast, Starscream talked the other two Seekers into helping, though unfortunately for them, the plan went wrong and Nova Storm and Skywarp ended up trapped in crystals in the creature's lair. They were later released once the Dweller was destroyed and teleported away with Starscream. What Dwells Within Learning of Mandroid's plan to wipe out all Cybertronian life, Starscream, Nova Storm, and Skywarp returned to aid efforts to stop the mad scientist. Ultimately, Mandroid activated the weapon, shutting down every Cybertronian in range only for everyone to be brought back online a short time later when Robby and Mo used their cyber-sleeves to reverse the effects. The Last Hope, Part 2

In the year following, the Decepticons initially cooperated with Optimus in attempting to collect the scattered shard of the Emberstone, and then went off on their own under Starscream's leadership. As the Autobots attempted to get away with a shard, Nova Storm shot down Robby and Twitch, only to be rammed out of the air by Nightshade. Nova Storm and the rest of Starscream's crew headed to the naval yard after gaining intel about the embershards there, and Nova Storm helped Starscream take out Megatron, only for them to discover that the embershards were fake and head back to base. Aftermath

Nova Storm and Skywarp were arm wrestling when Aftermath arrived with new Chaos Terran Spitfire, and were unimpressed with the newcomer, but ultimately decided she wasn't even worth fighting. Soundwave was later briefing the two seekers on ambush locations when Spitfire stuck her nose in, insulted Starscream and then picked a fight with Skywarp, which Nova Storm kept out of. The two seekers joined Soundwave in carrying out the ambush, tangling with Optimus and Elita-1 but having to return to base empty-handed when it turned out Spitfire had stolen the Cyber Slayer already. The Imposters Spying laser fire, the two Seekers found Swindle and Hardtop fighting with Robby and Hashtag over Optimus's trailer, allowing them to snag the trailer themselves. They took it to a salvage yard to try to break it open, only for Robby and Hashtag to catch up and drop the trailer on them. They later caught up with the two Maltos again, however this time Robby simply switched the trailer to battle mode and used its firepower on them. Dude, Where's My Trailer?

The Seekers were at Decepticon base when the Autobots turned up to demand the Decepticons turn over their Embershards and took part in the inevitably resulting fight. Starscream, thanks to some hostage taking, managed to obtain all of the shards, at which point the Decepticons headed out. They assembled on a nearby hill to watch as the Titan Terratronus, now under Starscream's control, rose from the ground and sent them flying with a swipe of her hand. Reasoning that Starscream had betrayed them, Nova Storm and the other Cons opted to follow Shockwave instead, only to be trapped under the Chaos Dome that Robby and Mo erected to contain Terratronus. Witwicky, Part 2

As Bumblebee, Mo and Thrash proceeded through the Chaos Dome, they spied Skywarp and Nova Storm ineffectually blasting the dome with missiles before slamming into it face first and being struck by chaos lightning as they plummeted towards the ground. The Need for Read After Prowl's ship crashed within the Chaos Dome, Nova Storm and the other Cons turned out to claim it, only to be driven off by the ship's defenses. Their second attempt was more successful, and after a protracted battle with Optimus and Prowl, the Decepticons boarded the ship before launching. Skywarp and Nova Storm were slow to board and had to chase it in jet mode so they weren't left behind when it warped into space. No Soldier Left Behind

EarthSpark

[edit]
  • Shockwave (Deluxe Class, 2023) - Left Arm (Cybertronian)
  • Starscream (Deluxe Class, 2023) - Left Arm (Cybertronian)
Nova Storm has the dubious honor of appearing in the EarthSpark toyline solely as a dismembered left arm acting as a bonus configuration for the Build a Figure Mandroid split into components across the first 3 waves of Deluxe Class figures. Nova Storm('s arm) is included with both Shockwave and Starscream and is intended to act as a replacement for his human arm packed with Megatron in wave 1, presumably to reflect his increasing mechanization over the course of the show. Be warned, the ball joints on Mandroid are extremely tight and can snap if too much force is applied during assembly.

Notes

[edit]
  • Now, you didn't hear it from us, but Nova Storm's inclusion alongside Skywarp in Earthspark sure is weird, huh? Almost as if the writers wanted to include a different character in a female role, but were told they couldn't.<ref>Mae Catt at TFNation 2023, "Earth is Where the Spark is", 2023/08/12</ref> Now, if that were the case, it seems pretty likely that's the second time in a row Nova Storm was given a prominent cartoon appearance simply because a more-famous Seeker was off-limits to have their gender changed from male to female.
  • Rather than any previous onscreen incarnation, Nova Storm's colors are based on the art (seen at right) which accompanied the 2015 Ask Vector Prime post that originally coined the character's name.
