With time of the essence, the Terrans unite to bring down Mandroid's superweapon and save their family.

Synopsis

Twitch, Nightshade and Bumblebee stare up at the huge structure topped with the space bridge which Mandroid intends to use to wipe out Autobot, Decepticon and Terran alike. They resolve to do all they can to stop the maniac's plan and joined by Schloder, they head off towards the tower.

Observing that the charging of his weapon from Mo and Robby's cyber-sleeves is not yet complete, Mandroid orders Blitzwave and Razor-Fin to guard the spire. He has his own plan to deal with the missing Terrans, using his badge controller to remotely reactivate Optimus Prime. As Bumblebee drives along, Schloder starts playing loud music shortly before the Autobot leader rams Bee from the side, sending him tumbling. Fortunately both he and Schloder survive the experience, but as Nightshade and Twitch help them up, Elita-1 drives into view, her eyes glowing white. The group flees to the dockyard to hide, pursued by the two Mandroid-controlled Autobots. During the resulting fight, Mandroid's spear is knocked from Nightshade's hands and under a train, leading Bumblebee to attempt to take on Optimus while the others retrieve it. Schloder grabs the spear, but the trio then have to contend with Elita-1 chasing after them. Schloder is knocked unconscious during the chase and Twitch pinned under fallen containers, and with Elita-1 closing in, all seems lost until Nightshade drops a crane on her and uses the spear to drain her energon. They're then able to help Bumblebee against Optimus, though even with all of them, Optimus is more then a match until Thrash, Jawbreaker and Hashtag suddenly join in. Together they keep him busy long enough for Twitch to use the spear on him. After the newcomers are filled in on current events, the group once again heads for Mandroid's fortress.

At the end of a bridge, they're again abruptly stopped by Arcee and Wheeljack and their retreat is cut off by a wall of flame produced by Grimlock. Bumblebee and Schloder stay to keep the Autobots busy while the Terrans fly off to face Mandroid himself. As they near the spire, they again come under fire, this time from the Sharkticons. Twitch has Jawbreaker, Nightshade and Hashtag keep them busy while she and Thrash fly up the tower. Twitch confronts Mandroid directly as a distraction while Thrash sneaks up to the space bridge, however faced with the Terran, Mandroid holds up his badge controller and Megatron flies into view. Transforming, Megatron knocks Twitch down and aims his fusion cannon at her. Twitch frantically tells Twitch to fly, giving away his position but giving Twitch the opportunity she needs to escape. Locked in combat with Mandroid, Thrash tries to point out that the scientist has turned himself into exactly what he hates, but his arguments get him as far as Twitch's pleas do with Megatron. As a swarm of Megatron's missiles close in on Twitch, they're countered by a barrage from the other direction — Starscream has arrived with the rest of the Decepticons and some G.H.O.S.T. agents, having heard about what's at stake.

Twitch heads back to confront Mandroid with Thrash, and the pair are able to overcome their foe, but he responds by announcing the end of the age of Transformers, bringing the space bridge weapon online. A blast of energy is unleashed, and every Autobot, Decepticon, Terran and Sharkticon drops to the ground. The energy sweeps around Earth, and Mandroid triumphantly laughs that the world is finally free of "those monsters". Twitch, partially protected from the effects of the energy by Thrash's body, is the only one left. The human members of the Malto family regain consciousness and free themselves from Mandroid's device only to see what Mandroid has done. When Robby's cyber-sleeve glows at his tears, he realizes he and Mo can use the power of Quintus Prime to heal everyone. Sitting on Mandroid's throne, the kids touch their sleeves together and the Emberstone appears between them. Quintus's power runs through Mandroid's device and then across the planet, restoring the Transformers to life. The Malto family, back together again, embrace and a huge insignia appears above the spire.

Quotes

"How do we stop Mandroid now?"
"We fight. Every Cybertronian on Earth is counting on us, and so is our family."

Twitch and Nightshade

"I'll be honest. We don't stand much chance against Mandroid, but we're their last hope. What do you say?"

Twitch gives a stirring if not completely optimistic speech.

"Starscream?!"
"The news spread quickly of your-"
"Awthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!"
"Yes! OK! That's enough... affection."

Twitch welcomes Starscream to the battle.

Notes

Continuity notes

  • This and the previous episode were originally released as one double-length episode.
  • The first season ends the way it began: With one Malto sibling telling the other that they've fallen in love with their new home while the family watches the sky, hopeful for the future.

Transformers references

  • Schloder yells "Rescue Bots to the rescue!", a paraphrasing of Heatwave's catchphrase from the Rescue Bots cartoon.

Trivia

  • Like previous two-parters, most online distribution platforms, such as Paramount+, do not list this episode separately from Part 2, instead choosing to combine both parts into a single 44-minute video.
  • According to storyboard artist India Swift, the final sequence of the episode (from when the Emberstone appears before Robby and Mo onward) was actually animated to sync up with "The Touch", as they had hoped to license the song for the show.[1]
