Synopsis

Part 1

Overload complains that they're not there to fight the Decepticons, who are busy destroying the last remaining fragment of Cyber-City. Skids is merely annoyed with the sound, on the other hand. Gears and Hoist look at the positives: while the Terrorcons accomplish their original task of destroying the fortress, they can focus on finding Mini-Cons. Skids then attempts to quell Overload's destructive desires by reminding him that he'll get to unload all of his ammunition when they face the Entity. Blaster and Soundbarrier successfully pinpoint the transponder signal of the Mini-Con escape pod, and they carefully tread towards it. Inferno burns out the lock, freeing Jetstorm, who immediately orders them to back away. Armada Scavenger tells him he's among friends, but then realizes he used the word "us" when speaking about the passengers of the pod - they've just found the components of the Star Saber!

Part 2

Tiptop notices that the Autobots have just found another group of Mini-Cons, but Armada Wheeljack is not concerned by this development, as he's been tracking a different escape pod. Deluge still wants to take those Mini-Cons as well, but Roller Force believes the ensuing firefight wouldn't be worth it. Wheeljack adds that the group he's looking for are much more likely to join forces with them than the Autobots'; he also reveals that they are a special group with all sorts of dark powers. Tigerchest eventually spots the pod in the ice, and Acid Storm burns away the permafrost and locking mechanism, allowing Jackknife, Skull Buster, and Maverick, the components of the Dark Saber, to free themselves from their transport. Wheeljack tells them they need their help, and when Skull Buster asks what they'd get out of the partnership, he replies "Utter... chaos!"

Gameplay

This event was an individual totaliser on the Mayhem gamemode, meaning players unlocked points on their own as opposed to with their Alliance. As a Mayhem event, each battle was still won by destroying the HQ, but instead of the rest of the buildings and defenses being destroyed upon them doing so, they could continuing destroying the remaining structures until the 3-minute timer is up to gain additional points. The one caveat is that these bases cost a whopping 15 fuel cells to raid, compared to alternative, easier (but lower-rewarding) 5-fuel-cell-worth bases in the same zones.

Although the top prize was technically a single binary bond, the more important (and more advertised) one was a 5-star Armada Star Saber or Armada Dark Saber Chip.

Notes

Transformers references

  • The Dark Saber is, of course, the Vorpal Saber from the Armada cartoon, going under its Japanese name this time around. Wheeljack describes it as being "loaded with the kind of dark energies that turn whole wars," referencing both its nature as a dark copy of Star Saber and the Mini-Cons' ability to turn the tide of the Autobot-Decepticon war.

Errors

  • Another bit of Gears' dialogue is misspelled, with the word "it" being written as "tt."
