The Raptoricons are an unaligned subgroup from the Of Masters and Mayhem portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The InGen logo would have been too on-the-nose.

Breaking away from the Decepticons, the Raptoricons live on their own in the wilds of the planet Chicxulania.

• We shouldn't have to tell you that the Raptoricons homage many elements of Jurassic Park.
• Each member of the Raptoricons takes cues from different scientific and pop-cultural reconstructions of dromaeosaur dinosaurs. Gnash is based on the inaccurate but enduring lizard-like raptors of Jurassic Park, and the sparsely feathered Thrashclaw represents a "compromise between feathers and scales" endemic to many modern pop-culture depictions of raptors. Slice and Shred skew towards the paleontologically accurate side of the spectrum; Shred's fluffy Velociraptor adheres to modern knowledge of dinosaur anatomy while Slice was designed to show "how you can make feathered raptors intimidating and cool." And who doesn't think that transforming raptors are cool?
