Synopsis

Bumblebee complains about being stuck as a healer role until Optimus Prime reminds him of his role's importance. Optimus then comes up with a strategy to defeat the opposing team while Chop Shop stands around, excited. Meanwhile, Elita-1 is jumping around buildings and shouting orders, eventually making her way into Team Prime's hiding spot and taking out Chop Shop. Optimus and Bumblebee rush to Chop Shop's aid, but Elita apologizes before she shoots them down as well and then runs off to secure a checkpoint. Once the checkpoint is secured, her current teammates, Mirage and Grimlock, reach Elita looking rather winded. Mirage then attempts to talk to Elita, but she runs past him. At the same time, Team Prime respawns and Optimus tries to get a reluctant Bumblebee to accept his role as support, but Bumblebee insists on trying to take her head on, and attempts to show Chop Shop how to aim in service of that goal. Optimus states that everyone will have to execute their roles well if they want to win. Bumblebee points to Chop Shop downing himself with his weapon and asks if that's the kind of competence he's referring to. Optimus, however, is more worried about losing more checkpoints and tells Bee that they're all relying on his healing.

Later, Optimus leads the charge against Elita and her team, which he manages to disperse with a laser-gun blast. Chop Shop then steps to the front and starts shooting his gun wildly, but is hit by a blast from Mirage and asks Bumblebee for a heal. Bumblebee throws Chop Shop the heal he requested, but said heal lands directly on Chop Shop's head, knocking him unconscious. Bumblebee scarcely has time to apologize for his mistake before gunfire forces him to hide behind the wall that Optimus is shooting from. Bumblebee notices that the person Optimus is trying to shoot down is Grimlock and is surprised to see him again. Optimus then gets shot and tells Bumblebee to juice him up as he's getting low on health. But when the Autobot leader looks beside him, he finds that Bumblebee is not there. Elita and Mirage take advantage of this opportunity and down both Prime and Chop Shop. Once both of them respawn, Optimus asks Bumblebee where he is and Bumblebee replies that he's on the front lines. Optimus is shocked by this, he demands that Bumblebee return because he doesn't even have any weapons to defend himself, but Bumblebee doesn't listen and gets downed as a result.

Once Bumblebee respawns, Optimus scolds him for sacrificing teamwork for the sake of his pride, and Bumblebee retorts that he would have succeeded were it not for being stuck as support. After Bee's response, Optimus has had enough and tells Bee to accept his assigned role so they can actually win. With Bumblebee thoroughly convinced to swallow his pride, Optimus and co. roll out into the battlefield. Elsewhere, Elita-1 and her team are being menaced by turrets. Elita tries and fails to shoot one down, but she fails and the turret downs Grimlock, leaving her and Mirage without their healer. Mirage uses the brief lull in the fighting to inform Elita that he has the information on Scorponok he promised, but Elita is mistrustful. Mirage then saves Elita from an assortment of turret shots she failed to notice, but when he asks Elita to trust him, Mirage is still dismissed. He decides to try his luck with Optimus and, while initially sceptical, Optimus decides to trust him. Just in time for a revived Grimlock to charge in and crush Optimus.

Now reunited with Team Prime, Optimus lays down a strategy for the other two to follow and states that this is their last chance to attain victory, as Team Elita is about to reach the last checkpoint. Now that everyone is actually following the plan, Team Prime defeats Team Elita in short order, with Optimus giving a personalized send-off to Elita herself, and secures the last checkpoint for themselves. After the program concludes, Grimlock compliments Optimus on his tactics. Now that all is said and done, Optimus asks Mirage to give him his intel. Mirage tries to do just that, but when he goes to pull out the disk the intel is contained in, he finds that it has been replaced by a rock. Elita is convinced that Mirage has tricked them, but Bumblebee suspects that Chop Shop simply stole the info. Some time later, Megatron thanks Chop Shop for giving him the disk, noting that he might not have to squash him after all.

Elita-1 as she shoots down Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

"Sorry, Elita. Nothing personal."

Optimus Prime as he returns the favor.

"I could have had it if I wasn't using [gestures at wrench]!"
"Enough! You need to make peace with not being front-line so we can win this program, get the energon we need, and get out of here! Can you do that?"
[Bumblebee nods]
"Good. Now, roll out."

Optimus has had it with Bumblebee's ego.

"Impeccable timing."

Notes

Continuity notes

  • Mirage finally got the information on Scorponok that he promised the Autobots back in Screamer City Arena.
  • The storage device the aforementioned info is stored on is the same one Mirage tried to download Scorponok's Tech Specs into, also in Screamer City Arena.
  • When Mirage goes to pull out the disk containing the info on Scorponok and instead shows Optimus a muddy rock, Bumblebee immediately concludes that Chop Shop has stolen the intel, as Chop Shop has betrayed him before.

Character levels

  • Bumblebee starts the episode in the middle of level four but loses EXP throughout, almost getting demoted to level three by the end.
  • Optimus Prime loses the most EXP out of everyone in the episode, beginning close to level four but plummeting into the bottom of level three by the end.
  • Chop Shop mostly remains at low level six.
  • Elita-1 retains more of her EXP than most of her fellow Autobots, opening with high level four and wrapping up the episode still halfway to level five.

Transformers references

  • This is not the first time we've seen Elita in an antagonistic role, although the circumstances are a lot more lighthearted here.
