Can't touch this, daa-naa-naa-naa

Hammer is the leader of the Constructor Squad. While he takes more pride in construction than destruction, he likes nothing better than tearing down an Autobot fortification and rebuilding it as a Decepticon engine of destruction. He believes the successes of his team are due to them simply being better than the competition, and he looks forward to the day when their skill is recognized and they displace the Constructicons in Megatron's eyes. Abnormally strong for a Micromaster, and a highly skilled engineer, perhaps Hammer's only real weakness, outside his massive arrogance, is that if he wants to go anywhere without Sledge, he has to do it the hard way... walk.<ref>More than Meets the Eye #3</ref>

His combiner partner is Sledge.

Fiction

[edit]

Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity

[edit]

Hammer was an Autobot and a member of Dump Team portion of the Dump Shovel W Team, a group of Micromasters who acted as support for the Battlestars. As their superior officers advanced on the battlefield, the pairs formed positions and strengthened defenses by actions such as creating bases or setting minefield traps. Return of Convoy bio

Toys

The Transformers

[edit]
Parachute pants not included.
  • Constructor Squad (Micromaster Combiner Squad, 1990)
Released in the seventh and final year of the original The Transformers toyline in the US (sixth and not-final in European markets), Hammer transforms into a dump truck trailer which is intended to be combined with his partner Sledge to form the rear half of an orange sledgehammer Wabco Haulpak 3200B “off highway” dump truck. He can, of course, be connected to any other Micromaster Combiner to form new weird vehicles.
Hammer was only available in a six-pack with his squad mates Sledge, Excavator, Grit, Knockout and Stonecruncher.
This mold was also used to make Terror-Tread.

  • Dump Shovel W Team (Micro Trailer team, 1991)
  • ID number: C-367
  • Accessories: Micro Trailer #7
Takara's Return of Convoy release of Hammer is physically identical to the Hasbro-release.
He was only available in four-pack with the similarly-unchanged Sledge, Grit and Knockout. The set also comes with Micro Trailer #7, which any toy in the set can "tow" or be stored within. Like all Return of Convoy characters, he was marketed as an Autobot instead of a Decepticon.

Notes

[edit]
  • In Dreamwave's More than Meets the Eye encyclopedia, Hammer is depicted flipped left-to-right. (His combiner pin is on the wrong side.)
  • If you touch him, he kills you.
  • His full name is Micromaster Combiner Hammer. Yo!

Foreign names

  • Japanese: Hammer (ハンマー Hanmā)
