Shortly after the Mission City incident, Professor Vine accompanied Salazar when they returned to the Sector seven base at Hoover Dam and confronted Starscream. Vine could only watch as Starscream abducted Salazar. The Reign of Starscream issue 2
The following day, Vine informed Agent Simmons that Wreckage was still inactive. Simmons considered calling the newly-recruited William Lennox for help. Alliance issue 1
Shortly before Optimus Prime and the other Autobots arrived to escort a convoy transporting the remains of the Decepticons to be dumped in the Laurentian Abyss, Vine and Simmons discussed Salazar's dealings with Wreckage, with Vine referring to Wreckage as the being preferred to be called, rather than Simmons's dismissive and callous disregard for the Cybertronians as living, sentient beings. When Optimus Prime departed, he left the last remaining sliver of the Allspark with Vine. The scientist argued briefly with Simmons about where to keep it as he feared its proximity to the captive Wreckage would be too dangerous, but relented taking it underground when Salani chimed in on Simmons's behalf. When they were moving the sliver to more secure storage, it flew out of Simmons hands brought Wreckage and three Landmine units to life. During the subsequent battle, Vine convinced Simmons that they had to find the sliver, but before he could go back underground, Wreckage confronted him. Alliance issue 2 Sadly, it was revealed that Vine was killed due to collateral damage from Starscream's attack on Wreckage. Alliance issue 3
