In the ROTF book, "Sound Like the Transformers" (the one with a voice-modifying microphone), it equates the ancients with the original thirteen. So at the very least we need to disambiguate. Let me quote:

The symbols tell how we began. We were ruled by the Ancients - the first 13 Transformers. The forged the Matrix of Leadership, a key used to power a great machine. It destroys suns and collects their Energon. The Ancients agreed never to use this power on a planet with life. One of the Ancients, the Fallen, defied that rule. He destroyed the other Ancients - all but one, who saved the Matrix. ...Jetfire

So it's the usual ROTF adaptation story, what with the one surviving Prime, but it sure likes to use the word "Ancients." --ItsWalky 10:16, 6 July 2009 (EDT)

I think maybe we can put this in the Trivia as something like:
"In the Revenge of the Fallen book "Sound Like the Transformers" (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Voice Changer?), Jetfire mention the first 13 Transformers as the Ancients. Whether the term "Ancients" here is a description/pronoun or literally meaning the "Ancients" mentioned in Cybertron anime is still unclear due to the lack of any further information.

I very much doubt we can or should suggest that this Revenge of the Fallen childrens book was making a reference to the Cybertron cartoon. --ItsWalky 11:38, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
"Ancient" is a very non-specific term. I think Master of the Game is the only real fiction that treats it as if it were a real group and not just a descriptor.--RosicrucianTalk 11:41, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
