In a world with giant intergalactic robots that shoot lasers, not too many humans would fit in like G.I. Joe's Laser Trooper, Seymour P. Fine (codename: Sci-Fi). It also doesn't hurt that Sci-Fi's secondary military specialty is Electronics.
Fiction
G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers
Together with Flash, Sci-Fi was given experimental laser technology with which to defend the SPS Research Facility from a Cobra attack. When Cobra arrived with their giant robots, Sci-Fi killed Frenzy with a precise laser straight through the robot's eye. He and Flash were unable to stop Rumble from razing the building they were standing on, however. They were ultimately saved by Bumblebee, who punched out Rumble and helped the laser troopers get out of the rubble. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #3 Sci-Fi later participated in the attack on Cobra Island, during which he got to sit inside Bumblebee and brag to the other soldiers about how awesome laser rifles were. He also helped Mainframe deduce the coordinates to the SPS Satellite, allowing Optimus Prime to shoot it down. As thanks for helping the Autobots defeat the Decepticons, Sci-Fi was provided with his very own giant mech suit. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #6
While interrupting a Cobra project in Boston two years later, Sci-Fi and the other Joes were transported to Cybertron due to malfunctioning wormhole technology. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II #1 He didn't really do anything in particular during his stay there. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II #3
Several months after returning to Earth, Sci-Fi accompanied the Laser Squad on a G.I. Joe mission to the Himalayas of Tibet to stop the forces of Cobra-La and Unicron. Together with Flash and Red Spot, Sci-Fi defeated the Pretender Monsters by blowing Monstructor's head apart. Black Horizon Part 2
Notes
- Sci-Fi's real name, Seymour P. Fine, is abbreviated "S. P. F.", making it a sunscreen pun. Because he works with lasers, get it?
