The name or term "Bumblebee" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Bumblebee (disambiguation).
Bumblebee is an Autobot from the brick-based world of Kre-O.

'Sup! He's Bumblebee! Do you know how radical Bumblebee is? Pretty freakin' radical, man! He's always cruising the highways at dangerous speeds, pulling pranks, finding sweet human parties where he can headbang to some loud music, and of course pounding Decepticons. Optimus Prime sends him on as many missions as possible in order to curtail his unsolicited rebuilding of other people's bricks, but really there's no stopping him. Bumblebee is an unstoppable pranking monster on a constant bender.

Fiction

Kre-O cartoon

Bumblebee participated with Optimus Prime in a tag battle against Megatron and Starscream. Last Bot Standing Bumblebee performed in a robot dance competition and despite a phenomenal performance, the judges, Megatron, Shockwave and Thundercracker gave him horrible scores in a blatant show of favoritism towards Bumblebee's fellow competitor, Starscream. Cruising around one day, Bumblebee and his driver encountered another driver who tried to impress them with his hydraulic suspension. Bumblebee responded by transforming and showing off his breakdancing moves. They left the other driver staring open-mouthed, but at the next intersection, they encountered Starscream. My Ride Is Better than Your Ride Bumblebee took part in a race, running almost neck-and-neck with Megatron as they entered a tunnel. Starscream was waiting at the other end of the tunnel with a boulder, but Bumblebee transformed, stopping at the last minute, and the boulder hit Megatron instead. Stepping over the pieces of his foe, Bumblebee gave Starscream a cheery wave and ran the rest of the way to the finish line, only to find that Optimus Prime had already won the race. The Big Race

During the holiday season, Optimus and Sideswipe sneaked a Kre-O Bumblebee set into Megatron's pile of presents, all so Bumblebee could surprise him with a festive punching. A Gift For Megatron Bumblebee ran over Megatron outside the Kre-O Museum. Megatron's Revenge

Optimus, Bumblebee and Wheeljack were acting as security at the Autobot City Bank when Spinister, Galvatron and Scorponok attempted to rob it. When the Decepticons called in Devastator, Bumblebee fruitlessly whistled for backup, but the three Autobots were victims of Devastator's wrecking ball before anyone else turned up. Quest for Energon, Part 1 When Prime and Bumblebee caught up with Megatron, he was using the stolen energon to make a grilled cheese sandwich. After arranging for a distraction, they commandeered his weapon and used it to explode the sandwich and him as well. Quest for Energon, Part 2

The Autobots' peaceful day in Kreopolis was shattered when the city was bombarded by the Decepticons, and a number of Autobots including Bumblebee were shattered into their component blocks. Yellow Autobot blocks began raining from the sky, and Optimus Prime's Kreon ran around dodging bombs and gathering them up so he could rebuild Bumblebee. Afterwards, Bumblebee dropped him back off at the battlefield to gather up more Autobot pieces. Kre-O Transformers Konquest

Toys

Kre-O

  • Bumblebee (2011)
    • Set number: 36421
    • Pieces: 336
    • Kreons: Bumblebee, Red Alert, Driver
    • Accessories: Missile, pistol (K100708), rifle (K100727)
The larger Bumblebee Kre-O kit is loosely based on the Bumblebee of the live-action films, with the face of the Generation 1 character. He rebuilds into a sports car that can seat two Kreon figures, and has a spring-loaded missile launcher.
He comes with three Kreons; a Bumblebee based very much on the Generation 1 Bumblebee, Red Alert, and an unnamed "Driver" with black hair and a gray shirt who we guess is meant to kinda sorta be a Sam Witwicky-like dude if you squint. Bumblebee's helmet is also used by Cliffjumper.

  • Bumblebee (2011)
    • Set number: 31144
    • Japanese release date: 3-20-13
    • Pieces: 74
The smaller Bumblebee Kre-O kit is loosely based on the original Bumblebee, with a head that's a straight copy of that Bumblebee's Classics toy head. He rebuild into a hatchback and comes with no Kreons. Since his vehicle mode is basically a solid brick that can't hold any Kreons, this isn't such a big thing.

  • Stealth Bumblebee (2012)
    • Set number: 98814
    • Japanese release date: 3-20-13
    • Pieces: 257
    • Kreons: Bumblebee, Security Guard x2, Biker, Bulldog
    • Accessories: Handgun (10203), shotgun (10206), submachinegun (10214), barrel x2, flak jacket
The "Stealth Bumblebee" set comes with a predominantly-black version of Bumblebee that rebuilds into a sport scar capable of carrying a single Kreon. His right arm ends in a rotating barrel, simulating a built-in blaster-arm.
The accompanying Bumblebee Kreon is based on the Prime version of the character. He lacks a right hand, instead having a clear-blue cylinder that slips over the cuff, simulating an arm-blaster. He uses the Ironhide helmet and the Prowl door-wing backpack.

  • Energon Bumblebee (2012, NYCC Exclusive)
A redeco of the Generation 1 styled Bumblebee Kreon in clear blue plastic exclusive to New York Comic Con 2012, Energon Bumblebee comes in its own special little window box with an outer sleeve.

  • Kreon Figure Pack (2013)
A boxed set of five Kreons, with Bumblebee, Red Alert, Mirage, Jazz and a fifth "mystery" Kreon; a randomly-packed robot Kreon from the first year of the line.

Notes

  • Thanks to there having been Kreons of both the G1 and Prime iterations of him, you can actually meld together parts of both to make a Bumblebee Kreon accurate to Emiliano Santalucia's artwork of Bumblebee produced for the Aligned production bible. With the remaining parts, you can make...Bumper!
