'80s-ization beam

The '80s-ization beam (80年代化ビーム wachijū-nendai-ka beam) transforms all things you love to stuff from the 1980s, in a fit of somebody's obsessive nostalgia.

Legends World

It's the '80s! Do a lot of coke and vote for Ronald Reagan!

Thanks to the power of the Legends World's spirit energy, the Rhinox of that world became Tankor in accordance to his wishes to become a cool robot. With this transformation came a facsimile of the Key to Vector Sigma that allowed Tankor to fire a beam that transformed things to anachronisms from the '80s, thanks to Rhinox's excessive nostalgia for the period. He went on a rampage with this "'80s-ization beam", changing his coworkers' technology to their more limited '80s versions, which displeased them (mostly). Rattrap became a Transformer again and defeated Tankor in an explosion that he enjoyed being '80s-esque. LG03 Tankor

Soon after building Whirl and Roadbuster based on an obscure '80s anime, Tankor decided on the Total Humanity '80s-ization Plan (人類総80年代化計画 Jinrui-sō Wachijū-nendai-ka Keikaku), giving Roadbuster the '80s-ization beam to use on the denizens of Tokyo. Roadbuster managed to convert some citizens into '80s-inspired forms of themselves before Rattrap again rebuked Tankor for his obsessive nostalgia and not realizing that the present was built on the past. Tankor almost conceded to Rattrap's point, but refused to let go of yearning for earlier times, so Whirl, having already turned on his creator, joined Rattrap in defeating Tankor. LG05 Whirl

Much later, when Rattrap attempted to change his coworkers to Metals-inspired forms to instigate interest in New Legends, Cheetor compared this '90s-tinged callback to the '80s-ization beam, which Rhinox profusely apologized for. We're Back!
