Bonecrusher (G1)/toys

Bonecrusher is the Decepticons' resident bulldozer.
Toys
[edit]The Transformers
[edit]
- Hasbro Team ID number: 1
- Takara ID number: 36
- Accessories: "Laser pistol", left Devastator fist, "target shooter" projectile launcher, "rotor blade" projectile
- Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy){{#if: Mark Watts (packaging colorist)|, Mark Watts (packaging colorist)}}
- Released in the second year of Hasbro's The Transformers toyline (first year in European markets), Bonecrusher is a redeco of the pre-Transformers Takara Diaclone "Construction Vehicle Robot No.1 Bulldozer", transforming into a bright green bulldozer resembling a Caterpillar D9G pusher. He also has an "attack bulldozer" mode, attaching the "Target Shooter" (loaded with the "Rotor Blade" projectile) onto the posts on the hood of his vehicle mode. The Target Shooter could also become launcher or drill weapon attached to either of his arms in robot mode. He can also combine with his fellow Constructicons to form Devastator, functioning as the left arm.
- On the European continent, Bonecrusher was initially released individually alongside the other Constructicons by Hasbro's subsidiary Milton Bradley (MB) in 1985.<ref name="mbredtr">"Milton Bradley and the red TF Tracks" at TF-1.com.</ref><ref name="mbcollection">"MB Transformers Collection" at 20th Century Toy Collector.</ref> In 1986, Bonecrusher and the other Constructicons were re-released in Europe, albeit this time in "Hasbro"-branded packaging (but manufactured by Joustra). The main difference with all other releases thus far was that the Constructicons' main color was now yellow instead of green.<ref name="frenchcon">"French Connection" at the TF Source blog.</ref><ref name="europestrange">"Europe's Strangest Attractions" at the TF Scource blog.</ref><ref name="frenchconst">"French TFs: G1 Yellow Constructicons" at Fred's Workshop.</ref> These are not to be confused with the later, non-combining yellow European Constructicons, nor with the yellow Generation 2 Constructicons (see below for both).
- For the GiG Italian release of Transformers, "Scudo" and the other "Escavators" were sold in boxes very similar to the Takara packaging instead of on Hasbro-style cards. The boxes even sported the Takara ID numbers from "31" to "36", and omitted the "Hasbro" logo on the packaging in favor of a "Takara" logo.

- Devastator (Multi-pack, 1985)
- Takara ID number: 37
- Accessories: "Laser pistol", Devastator's left fist, "target shooter" projectile launcher, "rotor blade" projectile
- Bonecrusher was also available as part of the Devastator gift set that was available in several markets, including the United States and Japan. All of the toys in the set are identical to their individual releases.
- The gift set was also released by GiG in Italy, and it would be reissued a handful of years later by Greek company El Greco in 1991. Rumors are that an MB-branded Devastator giftset was also released in continental Europe, but thus far no packaged sample has surfaced.<ref name="mbcollection"/>
- Constructicons (Constructicon, 1992)
- Accessories: "Laser pistol"
- Another yellow European exclusive version of Bonecrusher, in colors very similar to the previous yellow European release, was released super-late in the original toylin's lifepsan. The main difference was that this version, just like the other Constructicons, came with no Devastator parts. This toy was also not officially named, as he came on a standardized card also used by the other five Constructicons.
- Despite the aforementioned standardized blister card (with the key art being of Scrapper and smaller illustrations of the other five Constructicons showing up next to him), there is a small variant in how they're packaged: whereas some versions came with the vehicle modes placed sideways relative to the blister card, others came with the vehicle wheels / threads oriented towards the blister card, thus showing up as if presented from a top-down view. The blister bubbles are different across the two styles of packaging to accommodate this change.
- There were two variants of this Bonecrusher: The initial production run had his canopy cast in gray plastic (a color choice unique to this version), whereas the other one had a yellow canopy like the previous European yellow Bonecrusher.<ref name="eurovar">"1992 European Yellow Constructicons Variant" at TFW2005.</ref>
Generation 2
[edit]
- Bonecrusher (Constructicon, 1992)
- Team ID number: 1
- Accessories: "Laser pistol", "bionic power pak", drill, Devastator left fist
- Part of the very first assortment of Generation 2 product released just in time for the 1992 holiday season, all six Constructicons were redecoed, once again in primarily yellow and purple. However, these releases have some notable differences from the prior European-market yellow versions, the most blatantly obvious being the addition of a Generation 2-style Decepticon logo and "DECEPTICON" tampograph on each (in this case, on the front face of Bonecrusher's shovel). The purple plastic is also brighter in tone, and there are no gray-plastic parts. Most importantly, their ability to combine into Devastator has been restored, though Bonecrusher's combiner forearm (now labeled a "bionic power pak") and the fist and drill attachments have been retooled to remove all spring-loaded-launcher functionality from them.
- A later and seemingly less common run in 1993 changed the yellow plastics to rich orange. It was long rumored that this release was a KB Toys exclusive, but that has since been debunked; KB just ended up with the lion's share of what was a simple late-run running change to the normal retail release.

Universe (2003)
[edit]
- Bonecrusher (Micromaster, 2004)
- Accessories: Devastator legs
- A redeco of Crush-Bull, Bone Crusher transforms into a bulldozer. He can form the back or chest to any similar-construction Micromaster combiner robot, but his nominal position is as the back of Constructicon Devastator.
- A KB Toys exclusive, he and the other Micromaster Constructicons were also ultimately available from [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Sears, Roebuck and Company|{{#if:Sears|Sears|Sears, Roebuck and Company}}]] during Christmastime, and Kmart's online store.
- This mold was also used to make Micromaster Bonecrusher.
Classics
[edit]- Constructicon Devastator (Multi-pack, 2007)
- Accessories: Claw weapon thing, energon star
- Classics Bonecrusher is a redeco of the Energon Bonecrusher and Sledge mold, transforming into a wheeled front-end loader. He has a large twin-clawed weapon that attaches to the back end of his vehicle mode. He can also form a leg or arm to any Energon-series "Powerlinx Combiner" super robot, with the claw-weapon forming an "hand" or foot as needed, though his nominal placement is as the right arm of Devastator.
- He was only available as part of a Walmart exclusive Devastator gift pack, along with fellow Constructicons Scrapper (who uses the same mold), Hightower, Long Haul, and Scavenger.
Encore
[edit]- Devastor (Multi-pack, 2011)
- ID number: 20
- Accessories: "Laser pistol", left Devastator fist, "target shooter"/projectile launcher, rotor blade/projectile.
- Bonecrusher was reissued in a giftset with his Constructicon teammates as part of TakaraTomy's Encore line. Apparently cast from a newly created mold, given the presence of a Tomy copyright stamp rather than the original Hasbro/Takara one, Bonecrusher features a newly added-tab to his arm to hold him together more securely in vehicle mode.

- Devastor (Anime Color Ver.) (Multi-pack, 2013)
- ID number: 20A
- Accessories: "Laser pistol", left Devastator fist, "target shooter"/projectile launcher, rotor blade/projectile.
- Bonecrusher was again reissued in a giftset in 2013 as part of TakaraTomy's Encore line, this time in a more "anime accurate" color scheme. In addition to the mold changes of the 2011 version, Bonecrusher is also a slightly different green color, and features more cartoon-accurate paint applications on his face. His projectile launcher / Devastator's lower arm is colored black, instead of purple.
Kre-O
[edit]
- Constructicon Devastator (Micro-Changer Combiner, 2013)
- Set number: A2224
- Pieces: 76
- Accessories: Small pistol
- Known designers: Ed Masiello (Hasbro){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- Part of a Kreon Micro-Changer four-pack, Kre-O Bonecrusher is a mini-figure with extra pieces that can be rebuilt into a bulldozer.
- His parts can also be used to form Devastator with his pack-in mates Mixmaster, Scrapper, and Scavenger.
Combiner Wars
[edit]
- Devastator (Titan Class, 2015)
- Accessories: Missile launcher/left Devastator arm
- Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro), Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy){{#if: Hirofumi Ichikawa (detailing), Mark Maher (deco artist)|, Hirofumi Ichikawa (detailing), Mark Maher (deco artist)}}
- Combiner Wars "Constructicon Bonecrusher" is a Voyager-sized figure that transforms into a bulldozer. He comes with a large (non-firing) multi-missile-launcher.
- Of course, he can also form Devastator's left arm; his missile launcher unfolds to form Devastator's forearm.
- He was only available in a Titan-Class Devastator box set, along with Hook, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Scavenger, and Scrapper.
- As a part of a promotion in Hasbro's Asian markets, a free sticker sheet for the Constructicons was given out when purchasing the set. As such, Bonecrusher was given Generation 1 toy-esque stickers for the owner to apply if they wanted.

- Devastator (Titan Class, 2015)
- Accessories: Missile launcher/left Devastator arm
- The Titan Class Devastator set was given a redeco, featuring extensive paint operations and vacuum metallized purple parts. Bonecrusher gains black paint on the machinery in his treads, plus black-and-yellow hazard stripes and other minor deco additions all over.
- The packaging of this set is designed to evoke both Bonecrusher's shovel and Devastator's head, and its interior is designed to resemble the title image of Devastator on his wiki page.
- In the U.S., this set (also referred to as "Devastator Special Edition" in a Hasbro press release) was exclusive to the Hasbro Toy Shop website and the Hasbro Toy Shop booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2015. In Asia, it was also available at Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong 2015 and subsequently stocked by Toys"R"Us Hong Kong. Later, it was also available at The Falcon's Hangar booth at Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention 2015.
Unite Warriors
[edit]
- Devastor (Titan Class, 2015)
- ID number: UW-04
- Release date: December 12, 2015
- Accessories: Missile launcher/left Devastator arm, pistol
- Known designers: Hisashi Yuki (TakaraTomy){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- Takara's Unite Warriors Bonecrusher, is a redeco of the Combiner Wars toy, with a deco leaning heavier into his original animation model. He also comes with a new pistol, also based on his animation model. In addition, his knees were also retooled: instead ball joints, they are now swivel joints connected to mushroom pegs, providing better articulation.
- As with the Combiner Wars version, he was only available in a full Devastator box set, along with Hook, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Scavenger, and Scrapper.
Vintage G1
[edit]
- Devastator (Multi-pack, 2018)
- Team ID number: 1
- Accessories: "Laser pistol", left Devastator fist, "target shooter" projectile launcher, rotor blade projectile
- The original Devastator toy was once again re-released in 2018, this time in the Walmart exclusive Vintage G1 series. All of the toys inside were cast in a slightly yellower shade of bright green than prior releases, and were given a new style of rubsign used on all of the Vintage G1 toys; the insignia only turns red rather than the mood-ring multicolor of older rubsigns, plus the silver border is mirror-level reflective.
- Each individual toy in the set has a number of smaller differences from previous versions as well. In Bonecrusher's case, his forearm/launcher has the spring-loaded firing gimmick neutered for safety reasons, the ankles are now attached with a flat pin instead of a screw, the detailing on the parts such as the treads is not as sharp and deep compared to the original and Encore versions, and his mouthplate is now painted silver rather than black.
- Strangely, the instructions included with this set do not show/explain how to form Bonecrusher’s feet (which is done by pulling the ends of his tracks and rotating them forward).

Studio Series
[edit]
- Constructicon Bonecrusher (Deluxe Class, 2025)
- Movie: The Transformers: The Movie
- 2 of 6[sic]: Devastator
- Accessories: Blaster
- Known designers: Evan Brooks (Hasbro), Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}<ref>The Hasbro Transformers Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 with Mario Carreiro, John Warden, Evan Brooks, and Nate Purswell, recorded at the "Memo's Collection" YouTube channel.</ref>
- Released in the twenty-eighth was of Deluxe Class Studio Series toys, Constructicon Bonecrusher is a heavily-animation-model-based take, transforming into a bulldozer. He includes a blaster that can store on top of his vehicle mode. Naturally, Bonecrusher forms the left arm of Transformers: The Movie Devastator.
- Out of the box, Bonecrusher requires minor assembly; the black backpack piece that connects Devastator’s lower arm is packed in the paper wrapping with his blaster. Fortunately, it doesn’t need to be removed for transformation. His caterpillar treads in vehicle mode are solid-molded, and have no wheels underneath. While he DOES possess a waist swivel, it effectively unusable in robot mode, due to the chest-shovel being pinned to the pelvis.
- Unfortunately, Bonecrusher suffers from a minor misassembly; the connector piece for the combined mode's elbow joint is installed upside-down, preventing it from resting completely flat in any mode and making it easier to accidentally pull Devastator's arm apart. This can be fixed by disassembling the torso and flipping the joint, though doing so requires the removal of an incredibly difficult-to-access screw under Bonecrusher's armpit unless the pin securing the shoulder swivel is removed. The misassembly does not prohibit the figure from working as designed however, and can still work if left as is.
- The box copy is rife with errors. His box lists him as "2 of 6" despite there being only 5 sets for the Constructions, as Hook and Long Haul are bundled together. The mini-bio includes "Boncrusher[sic] battes[sic] the autobots[sic] in Autobot city[sic] on earth[sic]", and the translations into other languages are likewise are full of mistakes. Finally, the vehicle mode art on the box is based directly on his animation model rather than the actual toy inside.
- Devastator was announced at San-Diego Comic-Con 2024, with Bonecrusher and Scrapper being fully revealed at the year's Hasbro Pulse 1027 Event.
Merchandise
[edit]Decoy
[edit]- Bonecrusher (Decoy, 1987)
- Coming packaged at random on carded Transformers toys during 1987, this is a soft-rubber version of Bonecrusher in his robot mode. He—like all Decepticon Decoys—was available in both purple and red, with the red version being considerably rarer.
3D Battle-Card Game
[edit]
- "Classic" Bonecrusher (3D Battle-Card, 2007)
- A 38-point "rare" character in the 3D Battle-Card Game's "Energon Wars" expansion, Bonecrusher "transforms" into a lime green half-track payloader. He uses the same parts layout as Movie Bonecrusher and Longarm.
The Loyal Subjects
[edit]
- Bonecrusher (2014)
- The Loyal Subjects Bonecrusher is a Wave 3 figure with standard articulation. He is clearly based on his original toy, and comes with his classic weapon. Bonecrusher has no special gimmicks. For every 16 figures, there is one Bonecrusher.
- Bonecrusher "Orange" Ed. (2014)

Transformers Trading Card Game
[edit]
- Bonecrusher, Demolitions (2019)
- Wave 2A: Devastator Deck
- Rarity: RT
- Card Number: T01/T06
- Stars: 4
- Bonecrusher, Demolitions was released as part of the Transformers Trading Card Game Devastator Deck box set, which includes character cards for all six Constructicons, a ready-to-play battle deck, and a unique Tower card. Like the other members of combiner teams released as part of the Trading Card Game's Wave 2: Rise of the Combiners, as well as the other Constructicons included with the Devastator Deck, Bonecrusher, Demolitions is a folding card, with the Bot and Alt modes being depicted when the card is folded in half, and a holofoil portion of the the combined mode depicted when unfolded. The reverse of Bonecrusher, Demolitions depicts the upper right portion of Devastator.
- The artwork for Bot and Alt Mode is reused from the Transformers Legends mobile game.
- Bonecrusher, Demolitions can be used to form Devastator, Towering Warrior with the use of the Action card Constructicon Enigma while he and the other Devastator Deck Constructicons are in Bot mode on the battlefield or KO area.
Transformers Character Card
[edit]
- Released as part of the eighth wave of the e-HOBBY exclusive Transformers Character Card series, this pair of holographic trading cards depict super-deformed art of Omega Supreme and "Devastor" (with his components Bonecrusher, Hook, Scavenger, Long Haul, Scrapper and Mixmaster) along with character profiles and tech specs.
Blokees
[edit]Galaxy Version
[edit]
- Bonecrusher (2024)
- Series: Galaxy Version 03 - The Autobot Run
- Accessories: 2 pairs of hands (Weapon-holding/fists, open-palm), blaster, spare peg-and-ball piece, spare ball-and-ball piece, stand, holdable Autobot and Decepticon insignias
- Released in the second wave of the Galaxy Version line of blind boxes, Blokees Bonecrusher is a roughly 4-inch-tall, highly-articulated, and non-transforming snap-on model kit of the Constructicon Bulldozer. He is built on a "Standard Body" skeleton shared with other Blokees figures in the line, but with different body pieces to make them distinct. Like many other Blokees figures, Bonecrusher has a stand with four studs on top, which he can plug into and connect to similar stands. Unlike some of the kits released in this wave, Bonecrusher features color-coded visor eye parts.
- As advertised in the box, Bonecrusher has a pull rate of 1 in every 9 boxes, or three times across four cases.
Defender Version
[edit]
- Bonecrusher Vehicle (2025)
- Series: Defender Version 02 - The Overthrow
- Released as part of the second wave of the Defender Version line of blind boxes, this Blokees kit of Bonecrusher is molded in his excavator form. In addition, he can form the left shoulder/arm of Devastator along with the other Constructicon vehicle kits and the gestalt's add-on, with the latter being obtainable at the Blokees Figure Club in China.

- Bonecrusher (2025)
- Series: Defender Version 02 - The Overthrow
- Accessories: Blaster
- This Defender kit of Bonecrusher is a 2.2-inch (5.5cm) figure, a few inches smaller than the Galaxy Version kits, but still articulated. He comes with a generic pistol that is used by most of the Autobots and Decepticons in this line.
- As with all robot mode kits from this line, Bonecrusher features color-coded eye parts, which double as the neck's socket joint.
