Bonz-Eye

Bonz-Eye is a member of the Lost Bots from BotBots.
Nobody asks her why she only has one eye. Nobody asks her all the time.

Bonz-Eye takes everything very seriously. Maybe too seriously. Okay, definitely too seriously. This katana-wielding warrior lives by a code of secrecy so secret that she never tells anyone that she lives by a code of secrecy. She puts incredible value in her physical skills, and guards her emotions fiercely under a veneer of utter calmness and sardonic wit.

Look, everyone gets scared sometimes. Well, except for me, I'm not weak like that.{{#if:|{{{quote2}}}}}{{#if:Bonz-Eye"Spirit of Halloween"|Bonz-Eye{{#if:"Spirit of Halloween"|, "Spirit of Halloween"|}}|}}

Lost Bots!

[edit]

Bonz-Eye decided to join Dimlit's group of Lost Bots on their quest to see if there were tribes out there where they fit in better.

As the group visited various stores in the mall, Dimlit and Bonz-Eye went to the home-and-garden store as they thought it might be where they fit best. They realized the Shed Heads weren't for them after Rootwing and Slobber Rock invited them to go outside to garden, since they're indoor bots.

Bonz-Eye later returned with the other Lost Bots to Lost and Found, where all the Lost Bots played together. Lost Bots!

Stillness... then strike.

Bonz-Eye was originally a potted bonsai tree for sale inside a home and garden shop, but somehow ended up in the mall's Lost and Found department. Later, she was brought to robotic life by the mysterious energon cloud that gave rise to the BotBots, and ended up as one of the Lost Bots, who stayed in the Lost and Found, unseen by humans and other BotBots alike. However, Bonz-Eye always felt a sense of isolation even among them. Lone Bot and Carb

She "greeted" Burgertron when the lost Hunger Hubs member found himself in the Lost and Found, and by "greeted" we mean "attacked him with her sword". Though she was wary of the stranger, his tales of hundreds of other BotBots divvied up into themed squads where everyone had a place to belong piqued her interest and need to figure out her past, and joined him and the other Lost Bots in their first outing into the wider mall. She played lookout for the hideous flesh creature that threatened the BotBots' very existence... and quickly determined that the being was no threat, being impossibly unaware of the loud electronic train the Lost Bots had hijacked. The creature (Dave) eventually noticed when the train made it up the escalator to the upper-floor food court, and the Bots changed to their "disguised" modes to prevent detection, having been warned about the Sacred Rule of the Mall prior, aware the flesh being must never know the little bots exist. Unfortunately, Burgertron transformed into a burger, and Dave immediately moved to consume the free food he'd found. Dimlit leapt to smack Burgertron out of Dave's grasp, and in this brief moment of distraction, Bonz-Eye and the other Lost Bots jumped from the train to find a new hiding place. Dave left to return the train to the lower floor, and as he did, the other BotBots revealed themselves to Burgertron and the Lost Bots, having seen everything. The Sacred Rule broken, Burgertron was kicked from his squad, and the other squads shunned the newcomers. Now five in number, the Lost Bots returned to the Lost and Found, believing they could repair their reputation and re-join the other BotBots in time. Mall Than Meets the Eye

Burgertron's first attempt to return to good graces was to get the Lost Bots to be BotVids stars, teaming up with the reluctant and rude Fomo to shoot individual viral videos. Bonz-Eye decided that hers would be showing off her sick sword skills by playing a rhythm-based saber-slash video game, but she got a little too into it and just came across as a dangerous lunatic. "Luck" was with them though, as Dave had ""set up"" some """traps""" on the south side of the mall, and Burgertron decided that a BotVid of the Lost Bots defusing the traps with style was just the ticket... though this required the Lost Bots to rebuild the traps to actual functioning order; as Bonz-Eye noted, "Is it possible the flesh creature built these with a blindfold on?". One rebuilding later, and the Lost Bots went to work, with Bonz-Eye slicing her way through numerous net traps. She also freed Burgertron from the one hiccup, where he was caught under a cardboard box trap, cutting him free mere seconds before Dave arrived. This herioc heroism went unheeded though, as Fomo had shot video of Sprinkleberry D'uhnut slipping comically on some spilled oil a few feet away from the trap gauntlet, which was way funnier and more #viral. Oh well. (Never) Be Yourself

One night, as the Lost Bots were rushing to the Ice cream-a-palooza, despite having no tickets and therefore no way of getting in, they were distracted by a call for help from a nearby vending machine. The call came from the Sugar Shock Frostferatu, who had wound up trapped in the machine and was unable to free himself. Burgertron was utterly apathetic to his plight, but Bonz-Eye insisted on helping a fellow BotBot in need. Burgertron still felt they could just pass the message along, after all it wasn't like there was a ticking clock on rescuing him. Then Clogstopper confirmed there in fact was. The Lost Bots split up, with Burgertron and Bonz-Eye trying to free Frostferatu while the others ran interference on Dave. Bonz-Eye's suggestion of strategizing a plan was overruled by Burgertron coming up with his own idea; slam himself against the vending machine door. Repeatedly. After the fifteenth failed attempt, Bonz-Eye suggested maybe using their brains to figure out how the horrible snack-cake prison worked. Frostferatu helpfully informed them he'd seen flesh beings placing shiny disks in a slot on the front of the machine, and armed with this knowledge the two Lost Bots acquired a supply of such disks from the mall's fountain. They managed to throw enough into the slot to operate the machine, and only required to press the precise combination to free Frostferatu, so Burgertron insisted on continuing to throw the disks rather than simply scaling the machine. This also did not work. Hearing Dave's anguished screams as the others delayed him, Bonz-Eye realized they were running out of time. Entering the machine, dragging Burgertron in with her, she began scaling the inside with a licorice rope. As they climbed, a battered Dave approached, and the two hid from his gaze. As Burgertron lamented Frostferatu's impending fate, Bonz-Eye scolded him for still caring more about the party than another being's life. Fortunately, the snack machine's design thwarted Dave, and his rage set the security alarms off, forcing him to leave, while Bonz-Eye's words finally sunk in with Burgertron. Chastened, he saved Frostferatu, and then Bonz-Eye saved them from imminently plummeting to the bottom of the vending machine. And in a stroke of luck, the grateful Frostferatu turned out to have tickets for Ice cream-a-palooza. But by the time all six 'bots got there, the event was over and would never, ever, ever happen again. Escape from Snackatraz

When the Hunger Hubs were absent from the mall's Food Court one night, Burgertron took the other Lost Bots there so they could take advantage of the squad's absence to play around, with Bonz-Eye and Kikmee deciding to swim through some popcorn. As they played, Burgertron discovered the reason for his erstwhile teammates's absence, which was they were re-staging his hit play I, Cheeseburger. Bonz-Eye suggested they could get free tickets, but Burgertron was insistent that only he had the chops to play the main character, and when he did they would all be welcomed back to their squads, a notion both Bonz-Eye and Kikmee were silently dubious about. On return to the Lost & Found, the others saw Burgertron being even weirder than usual, as he rehearsed in anticipation of his former squadmates seeking him out. When it became apparent they weren't going to show, he left. As it transpired, Burgertron had been entirely replaced in every aspect of production. Bonz-Eye tried consoling him that he'd at least get writing credit, but Burgertron was inconsolable, insisting he deserved to be the lead. At a suggestion from Clogstopper, Burgertron decided they would make their own version of the play and run it against the Hunger Hubs that very night. Despite their general enthusiasm, none of the Lost Bots were up to the task, with a nervous Bonz-Eye's performance being stilted and wooden. Not that it mattered, as their play had only one attendee, in the form of Sprinkleberry D'uhnut. Not one to give up, Burgertron went to storm the stage, as the other Lost Bots watch in horror, Bonz-Eye predicting the situation would not end well. And she was right. Burgertron's actions brought the stage down on his head, and the others watched as he slunk away in disgrace.

However, it wasn't all for naught, as the other Lost Bots realized they'd enjoyed their brief time on stage, and back at the Lost & Found staged a private performance of The Real I, Cheeseburger for their dejected leader. I, Cheeseburger

As the Lost Bots were once again trying to pry Clogstopper off a surface he'd stuck himself to, the gang were accidentally caught in the background of the flesh being taking selfies. Realizing this would endanger them, or worse, caught their fellow BotBots to cast them into the fiery dumpster from which none ever returned, the Lost Bots set out to recover Dave's phone and delete the evidence. Burgertron came up with another of his plans to distract Dave and recover the phone, which Bonz-Eye ignored, her greater understanding of Dave's psychology allowing her to recover the phone while he fell asleep. Making their way back to the Lost & Found to safely break the phone's secrets, they effortlessly broke the fiendish security. However, one by one they fell under the phone's sway, and despite her claims otherwise Bonz-Eye was no exception, lured by a meditation app and the siren call of a soothing whale song. Burgertron insisted they return the phone, but he himself was drawn to its power, and unwilling to return it to its rightful owner. The squad began bickering over the phone, with its spell being broken by sudden low battery. Snapping back to their approximation of normality, the Lost Bots collectively realized it was all the phone's fault and there was only one choice: Cast it into the fiery dumpster. As they prepared to do so, the phone revealed it was in fact another BotBot, called Ring-A-Ling. A furious and terrified Ring-a-Ling called them out on their poor behavior over the night. Bonz-Eye questioned why she hadn't simply informed them of her true nature earlier, only to be told she shouldn't have had to, and that the Lost Bots should've set their own boundaries. With that, a still-furious Ring-a-Ling departed. The dejected Lost Bots returned to their cubby holes as dawn broke, considering their fellow BotBot's words. While Bonz-Eye felt there was a ring of truth to them, Burgertron disagreed, and with dawn upon them there was no further time for argument. Phoning It In

One night, the Lost Bots were playing in the arcade with assistance from 24K-Bit. When Burgertron discovered a poster pointing to the legendary Costa Pasta restaurant, most of the other Lost Bots, Bonz-Eye included, declined to go another life-changing epic adventure, preferring instead to just chill, y'know. So while Burgertron and Dimlit went looking for the special collector's cup, Bonz-Eye remained at the arcade with the others, watching as Kikmee became increasingly manic about beating the machine. Eventually, however, Kikmee's "enthusiasm" paid off, and she and the others went with the snake to rescue Burgertron and Dimlit from a collapsing Costa Pasta, which as it transpired had been right next to the arcade the whole time. Bonz-Eye grew to realize that while the other Lost Bots each had a squad they felt they "belonged" to, she couldn't think of any that felt right to her. Overhearing Burgertron talking about the "Dark Side of the Mall", she figured that such a mysterious and supposedly-dangerous place was surely where a squad of mighty warriors like herself would live, so she set off on her own to investigate. At first she only found dimly-lit stores, one of which had a number of irrationally creepy dolls whose distressing voiceboxes were way too easy to set off, totally weirding her out. Even weirder, Dave had arrived at his favorite bench in the mall in the Dark Side's main hall, and prepared to post a picture of himself enjoying a tasty expensive macaron he'd bought... a macaron that turned out to be Lady Macaron from the Sugar Shocks! Bonz-Eye quickly set off the dolls, which set Dave off into a paralyzing panic as he flashed back to the horrors of Clown Camp, and Bonz-Eye rushed to Macaron's rescue. But it turned out Macaron didn't want rescuing, and with a stream of insults, set off to explore the Dark Side despite the dangers. Bonz-Eye was forced to both distract Dave and pull Macaron away from the various temptations, eventually ending up in the very store where she had first been for sale, now empty and decrepit. The somber sight of the abandoned bonsai tree display made her realize that there was no squad where she "belonged", that she was one of a kind, a discovery that gave even the sardonic Lady Macaron pause. Determined still to get Macaron back to her store safely, Bonz-Eye pushed a tray of stale pastries from a cart into the main path, having long learned Dave's eat-and-sleep habits, and the two snuck out while a pastry-sated Dave snored away on his favorite bench. Back at the candy shop, a now-serious and softer Lady Macaron explained that she had let herself be bought because she wanted to get away from the rest of her squad for a few, and that being alone didn't have to be a bad thing. Bonz-Eye returned to the Lost and Found, greeted warmly by her fellow Lost Bots, and mused on her future. Lone Bot and Carb

Kikmee, worried that her friend was bottling up her emotions to an unhealthy degree, proposed Bonz-Eye try some angry scream-song karaoke, courtesy of karaoke-bot Snorg. Though initially reluctant and only willing to do so if no-one else was in the booth with her (save Snorg, who promised he could keep a secret), she had a go at it. She really, really had a go at it. But as cathartic as unleashing all her negative energy was, it had the horrible outcome of transferring into Snorg's circuits, turning him into a howling-mad, sonic-blasting monster! Commandeering Dave's Scootmobile, Snorg went on a rampage in the food court, and the situation got even worse for the Lost Bots when Snorg began playing back Bonz-Eye's vented frustrations over her fellow Lost Bots, much to the mingled horror and amusement of the other BotBots. Both Kikmee and Bonz-Eye tried to apologize to each other, and both realized that Bonz-Eye did have a way to set things right again, by doing what she does best (besides be a sweet super-skilled silent-shadow sword-swinger): managing her emotional balance. Grabbing Snorg's microphone, Bonz-Eye picked a soft tune and sang a song of apology to her dear friends and of her need to better handle her emotions (she didn't sing well, but she tried, y'all). The positive vibes returned Snorg to his usual easygoing self, though Bonz-Eye quickly threatened him that he should never reveal her weaknesses or there would be consequences. Rage Against the Karaoke Machine

Still "in" somewhat with Lady Macaron and the Sugar Shocks, Bonz-Eye got them to host a tea party with the goal of teaching the Lost Bots some etiquette. Unfortunately, Clogstopper proved unteachable, if not anti-teachable, and the whole thing ended in disaster and the Lost Bots slunk away before things could get even worse. Bonz-Eye awkwardly held her tongue in the ensuing argument between Clogstopper and Burgertron, and seeing no help from his "friends", the plunger-bot took his leave. The following night, the Lost Bots were shocked to hear that Clogstopper had been "scanned out" (bought by a human and taken from the mall). They held an impromptu service for their departed friend, Bonz-Eye contributing a frog keychain she had won with remarkable ease in a meditation competition with him, dropping it in one of the mall's commodes for a symbolic burial at sea. Which then backed up and overflowed thanks to the stuff they'd dropped in, soaking them all. But it turned out Clogstopper had been returned to the mall, making him an instant celebrity with the other BotBots who desperately wanted to know how he was able to "defeat" the humans. Now with tons of attention lavished upon him, he snubbed his former squadmates and their attempts to talk to him fell on deaf ears... until he then blew it by subjecting everyone to his multi-hour one-bot puppet show, and everyone bailed on him, save the Lost Bots. Notes

[edit]
  • The BotBots Official Sticker Book notes Bonz-Eye is a lost member of the Shed Heads. However, the BotBots cartoon has her as a Lost Bot without an "original" squad to belong to, the store she came from having shut down and emptied out before the BotBots were brought to life.
  • In the cartoon, her sword is formed from the small red flag posted in her alt-mode's planter-box.
