Ring-A-Ling is a member of the Gamer Geeks from BotBots
"Is it not a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt for so small a thing? So small a thing!"

In her guise as a humble phone, Ring-A-Ling has the unenviable position of being the company phone of the flesh being known as Dave, his only source of companionship and contact with the outside world (mostly his mom). This task tends to keep her away from her fellow BotBots, some of whom don't know she even exists. As a phone, Ring-A-Ling is loaded with apps to help keep Dave occupied during his long and lonely hours, many of which are very tempting to the unwary. And while tedious, her close proximity to Dave means she probably knows best how his mind works.

Before being brought to life by the energon cloud, Ring-A-Ling was Dave's company-given phone. In that time, Dave only ever added his mom to his contacts. Shopping Brawl

In her phone form, Ring-A-Ling provided Dave podcasts to listen to on his rounds, until he managed to temporarily run out. Dave then changed to listening to a self affirmation app. Questioning if he was repeating the correct parts, he examined the self help app closely...while giving Ring-A-Ling a good view of him picking his nose. Ewww. Later Dave was completely engrossed with the phone as he did his rounds, missing the blaring lights and music from the mall train ride. Mall Than Meets the Eye Later Dave told his mom all about the little robots he saw on a call. (Never) Be Yourself On his birthday Dave called his mom to tell her all about how he was planning on getting a fancy cupcake to celebrate. While sitting on the toilet. Again, eww. Escape from Snackatraz

After seeing an ad promising the chance of becoming mall famous (the best kind of famous!), Dave used Ring-A-Ling to take some... questionable selfies. However, in the process she also caught footage of the Lost Bots falling off a banister behind him. Unable to break her cover, she set off her midnight snack alarm. Unaware of their fellow BotBot's existence, the Lost Bots followed Dave to his office to retrieve his phone. Bonz-Eye managed to do so while Dave snoozed, the usual result of his eating. The desperate Lost Bots tried to get past his password, with Ring-A-Ling helping them despite Clogstopper's ridiculous suggestion the password was simply "1111111". Burgertron quickly deleted the incriminating photos, but then Ring-A-Ling's many apps began tempting the Lost Bots, one by one. Even Burgertron found himself seduced when he began editing Dave's selfies, and soon all five Lost Bots were at one another's throats, each finding the phone far too precious to give up. Ring-A-Ling tried faking running out of juice to snap them out of it, but this was only a partial triumph, as the Lost Bots blamed the phone for corrupting them, and therefore the only solution was to cast it into the fiery dumpster from which none return! Before they could, Ring-A-Ling finally broke cover to read the misfits the riot act for their nearly killing her, their obsessive behavior and general cluelessness in not noticing how she'd been trying to help them. Admonishing them for their inability to set boundaries, she declared them beyond help, and stormed off to return to Dave. Waking up as she activated her alarm, Dave checked her screen and was shocked to discover his MallFace likes had dramatically increased thanks to Burgertron's photo edits. Dave subsequently blew it anyway. Phoning It In

Dave listened to music on Ring-A-Ling in phone mode while doing his rounds. He paused briefly as he questioned if he heard a bird, before shrugging and continuing his rounds. Live and Let LARP When Dave bought a fancy macaron as a treat, he decided to document the moment with a photo using Ring-A-Ling in phone form. While he was distracted with what kind of filter to use, a noise from a nearby store caught his attention. Putting Ring-A-Ling in his pocket, he want to investigate. Lone Bot and Carb Dave once again zoned out listening to something on the phone as he did his rounds, failing to notice various attempts to stop him. Eventually the sight of a tiny burger robot rolling in front of him managed to get his attention away from the phone, and he gave chase eventually losing him. On the Bot Prom Dance Floor When Dave got food poisoning, he called his boss letting him know how sick he was and that he needed new pants. Once again, eww. The Ruckus Rally

Getting prepared for the mall Halloween Dave gave his mom a call with Ring-A-Ling in phone mode to try out his new spooky voice for his mummy costume. After having to reassure his mom it wasn't a pranks call, he found out his Mom hadn't programed Ring-A-Ling's in his phones number into her phone. Spirit of Halloween He later had another call with his mom where he reassured her he wasn't a vampire, was just pale due to working the night shift constantly and asked her to stop rubbing garlic in his clothes. Later that night after his latest plan to catch the tiny robots went....a little poorly he had another call with his mom where he reassured her he could see himself in mirrors. Getting a second call, he swapped over to talk to Randall, only to be told he was fired. Agent Smartlit

"The markings upon the band begin to fade. The writing which was once as clear as red flame has all but disappeared, a secret now that only fire can tell.

Breaking the news to his mom during a call, the Lost Bots overheard Dave lamented how much the mall meant to him. He then returned to his office to clean out his locker and left Ring-A-Ling there before leaving. After the security bots that replaced him began to hunt down the BotBots, the Lost Bots got Ring-A-Ling to call Dave's mom so they could reach Dave in a desperate last-ditch scheme to lure Dave back to the mall so he could shut off the rampaging security bots. Despite Burgertron's unconvincing story and disguise of "Mallworker Fleshguy, Esquire", the plan worked. Dave got his job back, and Ring-A-Ling once more served as his phone. Shopping Brawl

As part of the Gamer Geeks, Ring-A-Ling took part in the Goldrush Games, but they proved unable to win. The Goldrush Games - Part the First

Notes

[edit]
  • Ring-A-Ling is one of the few cartoon-original non-toy BotBots... despite there being cell phone BotBots toys, notably Screen Fiend from Series 1.
  • Her name was never given in show. She was listed as Phone in the international credits for the episode "Phoning It In". Her actual name was later listed in the international credits for the episode "Shopping Brawl".
  • Ring-A-Ling mentioned that Dave only ever programed one number into her, his mom. Given we hear him speak to Randall while sick, that means Randall's number was pre-programmed into it or Dave just remembers it. Knowing Dave, it seems more like it was pre-programmed.
