The Cog is the meeting place of the Functionist Council. Predictably, it is shaped like a giant transformation cog.

In an alternate timeline where Megatron was never born, the Functionist Council was able to grow ever more powerful, eventually overthrowing the Senate and seizing control of Cybertron. A World Misplaced Rung, having an objectively useless alternate mode was locked up within the Cog and regularly tortured in an attempt to gleam its function. In 2014, the Council met at the Cog where the Evaluator Ten-of-Twelve reported on replacing of the Primal Vanguard's eyes with cameras, successfully converting them into the first of the Council's full spectrum surveillance agents. Subsequently, the Enactor Six-of-Twelve reported that their theoconomists had consulted the Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy over the proposed mass recall of the data slugs. While a strict reading suggested that they still had a purpose, their ability to store large amounts of data threatened the Functionists' ability to rule, so the Convener One-of-Twelve overruled the theoconomists and ordered their obsolescence chips to be detonated. In early 2017, the Council restarted Vector Sigma to extract the sparks of their army only for Team Rodimus to free Rung, Bad Moon Rising and use a matter transporter to escape back to the surface, using another to board the Cog. After seizing control of the ship, they set course for Adaptica, passing the time by listening to Rung's tale, with the psychologist eventually declaring that they had to crash it into Luna 2.
