Commanders are a cross-factional subgroup of Transformers from Power Core Combiners.

Commanders are the core Transformer at the heart of a Power Core Team. Commanders lead and combine with both Mini-Cons and powerful drone vehicles that increase their power and combat abilities, transforming them into a larger, powered-up form.

Power Core combining technology was an ancient, lost Transformer technology. The Autobots were very surprised to rediscover this lost tech on Earth and decided to put it to good use, upgrading the best of the best to be Power Core Commanders. Unfortunately, Decepticon spies quickly stole the Power Core Combiner technology and have used it to give themselves a powerful edge against their Autobot enemies.
