General Izzo is a human from the G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

It's important to ensure that one's country remains one step ahead of its enemies when it comes to technology. To this end, General Izzo is ready to make the tough decisions and ensure that the United States acquires advance alien technology, while it is kept out of the hands of terrorist organizations.

G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers

General Izzo, Frankel, Lane, Horn and Renegar were high-ranking officials in the U.S. army that had managed to keep track of Cobra after the terrorist organization had used Cybertronians to attack the United Nations. General Flagg was tasked with assembling G.I. Joe to take down the terrorists, eventually doing so thanks to the help of the Autobots Wheeljack and Bumblebee. With Cobra’s base of operations now located, the Generals planned to have it nuked while the Cybertronians in their “possession” would be taken to Area 51 to be analyzed and disassembled. With several Autobots still fighting on Cobra Island, and knowing that Bumblebee and Wheeljack were more than mere A.I.s, Hawk disobeyed orders and went off to stop the nuclear strike. G.I.
