G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers

As General Abernathy was scrambling the Joes to deal with the Cybertronians recently released from Cobra’s control, General Renegar and General Horn approached him. Pulling rank, General Renegar said that he would be taking over command, and that Wheeljack and Bumblebee, the two Cybertronians that had helped the Joes foil Cobra’s plot, would be shipped to Area 51. As far as General Renegar was concerned, the aliens weren’t truly alive, and he had no qualms about vivisecting them for analysis. He also informed Abernathy that he and the other higher-ups had already decided to nuke Cobra’s base of operation.

Renegar and Horn later contacted Generals Frankel, Izzo, and Lane at the Pentagon to update them on the nuclear agenda, only to learn that the Joes were acting against orders. Instead of taking the captive Cybertronians to Area 51, they were making their way to Cobra’s base to save the rest of the Autobots from being atomized. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #4 Unaware that the Joes were trying to prevent a nuclear winter that would spread across half the globe if the stockpile of energon on Cobra Island were detonated, General Renegar approached the President of the United States and convinced him to go through with nuking the island.
