Galvatron pulled up to the wrong neigborhood.

Risuko (リスコ) and Risue (リスエ) are two squirrels who live on Gaia. Although small, they are brave and resilient creatures who've bonded with Bighorn.

Beast Wars II cartoon

[edit]
My cartoon would've been cuter.

The two squirrels became friends with Bighorn and liked to play with him in their jungle home. The only one who understood this bond between animal and Maximal was Lio Junior and as he played along, this created a bond between Bighorn and Lio Junior as well. With the continuous approach of Nemesis, the jungle came under threat of the Angolmois Energy's tempestuous movement and despite the Maximals' efforts to freeze it in place it seemed the jungle was doomed. Bighorn left the battle to get the animals to flee and in particular to assure the safety of the squirrels. In the end, the outbursts of Angolmois Energy were stopped and the squirrels resumed playing with Bighorn and Lio Junior. The Great Angolmois Freezing Tactic

Beast Wars II comic

[edit]

Bighorn befriended two squirrels he named Risuko and Risue, who got to sleep on top of him when he dozed off outside. It was a serene tableau up until Nemesis started wrecking Gaia. The trio woke up and Bighorn recovered just quick enough to save his two friends from rocks being blasted up with each attack. Because it wasn't safe outside, he brought them along to the Maximal Gaia base, but while this protected them from injury, it did not protect them from Nemesis. As the artificial planet drained Gaia, the life energy was also drained from all of its creatures and the squirrels were slowly dying in Bighorn's arms. For their sake, Bighorn was the first of the Lio Convoy Unit to commit himself to the dangerous mission of destroying Nemesis. All Hands, Make a Special Attack on the Evil Planet! Not wanting to lose sight of them, Bighorn gave the squirrels little spacesuits and brought them along to the battle in space. When all seemed lost as the Angolmois Energy once more took hold of Lio Convoy's mind and body, Risuko and Risue stepped up and telepathically sent a message to all animals still alive on Gaia to share some of their lifeforce with the struggling champion. The call was answered and the fauna's combined lifeforce revitalized Lio Convoy as the Green Warrior. Win the Battle of Light and Darkness!

Notes

[edit]
  • Risu (栗鼠, リス) is Japanese for "squirrel". Risuko and Risue, which are both female names, are named only in the comic and go nameless in the cartoon.
  • In the cartoon, Bighorn refers to his two squirrel friends as oyako (親子), meaning "parent(s) and child(ren)". Only two squirrels are ever shown at a time and they both appear to be adults so unless Bighorn saw one of them grow into adulthood off-screen it's a bit of an odd term for him to use.
  • There are several moments in the Beast Wars II comic that demonstrate influence from [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Dragon Ball Z|{{#if:||Dragon Ball Z}}]]. Bighorn, Risuko, and Risue together have a plotline reminiscent of that of [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Mr. Satan|{{#if:||Mr. Satan}}]] in the Buu Saga and the Kid Buu Saga.
