Important?

[edit]

After a google search on "my little pony plush" I think it's safe to confirm that the plush is of the character Pinkie Pie. Right down to the heart in her eye.75.92.99.136

Yes, it is indeed Pinkie Pie from the G3 line. 24.235.137.241 20:27, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

Epps

[edit]

One of the movie adaptions has Epps complaining that his daughters keep asking for My Little Ponies.

I should look up which one it is, but I'm making a note here in case I forget. -Derik 21:28, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

The caption on the BotCon variant cover

[edit]

Is it too harsh? Or am I just a thin-skinned Brony? -Cr85747 18:48, 19 May 2013 (EDT)

A bit of a late response, but I find that that caption was a bit too harsh, even for our jokey tone. It was more like a cruel jab than a harmless poke in tone. Granted, I'm no fan of forcing a joke change merely because of opinion, but there's no way that joke was unable to be taken as a cruel mocking of the brony fandom. My replacement may not be amazingly funny, but I'd prefer a only mildly funny caption over one that's needlessly spiteful of something. MaximalBroadjaw (talk) 00:30, 27 December 2015 (EST)
I think it's funny because it's so over the top. Like having a picture of Michael Bay and putting "Literally Hitler" as the caption. I don't know whether or not it was meant as spiteful, but that's how I took it. --abates (talk) 01:25, 27 December 2015 (EST)
I concur. I think the caption is largely tongue-in-cheek. Even if it isn't, it's no worse than some of the captions on Kiss Players or Transformers Comic-Magazin. It's all in good fun. -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 01:39, 27 December 2015 (EST)
A) It's not that serious. B) I have zero sympathy for Bronies. Saix (talk) 02:27, 27 December 2015 (EST)
Having zero sympathy shouldn't cloud what is and isn't a decent joke. I'm not saying it's bad because it's mocking a fandom; it's more that there's not a lot of reason for it to be worded as such to come off as ridiculous. I'll admit that maybe I'm just being a little paranoid, but overall I suppose this article shouldn't be too...well, jarring in caption tone. And it's not like we've done these sorts of jokes before, but again "it's been done on the *X* article" is not really something I find a valid point. A joke caption should not be able to be misconstrued as a serious note on the subject; that colours the view a reader may have on the article.
And over the top works when it doesn't come off as snide and attitude-copping. That caption does, which I feel undermines it as a funny joke. It goes too far in being snide and ends up looping around into looking mean. I don't find it terrible, but I don't doubt that we should probably embrace this subject along the lines of how we treat other non-Transformer subjects on the wiki in terms of captions; making jokes, but not anything really like what a fanboy would say.
Again, "because it's funny" should not be a reason to not consider rewording something. We may be professionally unprofessional like TVTropes, but there's lines that shouldn't be crossed even for us; again, Kiss Players and those kinds of awful media deserve the utter lambasting they get in those captions, and Comic-Magazin is just a case of So Bad, It's Funny. This, to me at least, comes off more as just being snide because the wiki likes snide captions. Cracking jokes at how G1 Bumblebee, the kid-appeal character, would probably enjoy the show aimed at kids about friendship is a bit less easily misread as serious than the caption making a joke about how "ponies r teh evuls"; a joke that's been run into the ground and beat with sticks until it's nothing more than a cracked mess. It's like having a wiki editor add another "Bonecrusher hates this" joke or another "Lol, Gobots suck" joke. It's not funny, it's not been funny for a while after people beat it into dust like a bunch of rabid wolverines. A dead joke isn't funny, it's just annoying.
My ideal comparison would be that we're the MST3K of Transformers-related media; we're serious when needed but are also jokey and know what makes for good laughs. Cheap pokes at a dead joke horse is not good laughs, it's like canned laughter but done as obviously as possible. MaximalBroadjaw (talk) 11:10, 27 December 2015 (EST)
I disagree with your wall of text and actually find the joke quite amusing, and I don't think we should remove someone else's caption just because you don't like their style of humor. -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 11:38, 27 December 2015 (EST)
I made that caption and if anyone finds it deeply offensive then they're being a crybaby. Also, I like the show yet I'm capable of poking fun at my own interests. --DrSpengler (talk) 12:40, 27 December 2015 (EST)

Oops

[edit]

I accidentally made a useless note in the revision history. The page revision is good, but the note is not. Is there any way to fix only that? I intended to paste “Doesn’t work for mobile users” but did a ‘paste and go’ with that instead. ReBoot Fan (talk) 16:54, 31 January 2018 (EST)

Reference

[edit]

The final episode of Friendship is Magic referenced Transformers when Spitfire said something along the lines of "Wonderbolts, Roll Out". Is that notable enough to add to the article?--Darkanine (talk) 19:42, 13 October 2019 (EDT)

Not really, no. There are plenty of other franchises on this wiki that have done that, and they don't have that note. Escargon (talk) 20:08, 13 October 2019 (EDT)
